Is a BEST extended warranty a good idea? What's the process on selling your BEST warrantied Spyder?

I have a 2022 Spyder F3L purchased in May 2023 and want to get the BEST warranty before the deadline late May 2025. My questions are these:

  1. Do others believe that getting the BEST warranty is a good thing to do in general?
  2. I want to also use the BEST warranty as a negotiation/sales point should I want to sell my bike in the next 1-2 years. So IF a buyer does not want the warranty, I want to first ENSURE that I have my money from the sale, and THEN drop the warranty to get a prorated refund from BRP. At what point in time do I lose my authority to drop the warranty? Is it upon signoff of the title to the bike? Again, I want to ensure that I got my money first, THEN drop the coverage.
Perhaps I should call BRP? The dealer will not answer me and pointed me to this forum.

@GWHIZZ, Don't be one day late trying to get the Best Warranty for a longer period of time. If you miss the date your OEM Warranty on your Spyder expires, you wont get the BEST Warranty to extend on your Spyder. BRP will not renew the Warranty if you miss the last day of their original Warranty. Someone on here missed getting his renewed on his last day. Called the next day and BRP said sorry you missed the renew date. I had it on my '17 RTL, the wife's '19 F3L, and I put it on my '22 RTL. Get it from iMotorsports, or the dealer in Nevada. I got all mine from the dealer in Nevada. Dealer wouldn't think of trying to match them.

When I bought my 2024 Spyder I was not offered a BEST warranty, but the dealer did offer me a 3-year extended service plan, which I bought.

The good news is that it covers everything except the battery and the tires.
The bad news is that I can only take it back to one of my dealer's two locations for service.

The Can Am BRP BEST Warranty is a Very good (insurance) Warranty. It was a big help for me.
I don't know if you have it and then sell your Spyder what happens.
Best to call and talk to BRP.

If you want to purchase the extra time do it.
My TIP... Do your purchase a week before the original Warranty expires.

Enjoy your Ryde Times.

I purchased the B.E.S.T. extended warranty because the 1330 ACE engine was new and the roadster is a rolling computer. It expired unused. Would I do so again? From what I read about problems with the newer Spyders, absolutely. The key to save bucks on it by shopping around, as you can purchase it from the dealership that offers the best, pun intended, price. I read that a gent named Thomas Palmer from iMotorsports in Chicago is the guy to contact.

I had the BEST warranty on my 2019 F3, and used it once for the fuel pump replacement - $50 deductible. It runs with the VIN, so got value when I traded it, and got a year of BEST warranty when I purchased my new 2022 F3-L a few weeks ago.

I had the BEST warranty on my 2014 RTL and would not own a Spyder without it. Used it 3 times and EACH repair cost exceeded the total warranty cost. Some (most) dealers charge an excessive amount for it or a service agreement. As others have said, shop around for a reasonable price. Last I checked, Sierra Cycles in Sierra Vista, AZ is one of the dealers who doesn't gouge. I think selling the bike with warranty should add value for the buyer that exceeds the warranty cost. Good luck..... Jim

Sierra Cycles in AZ. is who I purchased the 3 extended warranties for our Spyders from. My dealer said he would give the the best price for it, I wouldn't be able to find it for less. I asked would they match the $671 for the warranty? Nope!! I said that's how much I'm going to pay for the 3 yr. extended BEST warranty. I heard the price for the warranty was going to go up after I had purchased my last one. I don't have any Idea what it costs now, but unless your local dealer wants to sell if for what you can get it for from iMotorsports or dealer in AZ, I'd buy from either of those 2 places.

Dealer tells me that I can cancel warranty immediately after bike sale because I own it. Don't know of anyone who ever did this to ask them. BRP finger points back to "ask the dealer" when posed with BEST Warranty questions about cancels/refunds.

Contrary to all the support to buy Best warranty after the BRP warranty, I do not buy any extended warranties after the OEM warranty on anything and have been extremely lucky and have saved thousands of dollars that would have been spent buying warranties.

Bottom line is that it's your money and if buying extended warranty lets you sleep better at night, by all means, go for it. JMO ;)

I am doing it to better negotiate sale of bike in near future, but I will ride it until then. I can also get a full refund w/i 60 days and pro-rated after that.

What happens if this dealer goes under?

There are no pro rated refunds on BRP BEST warranty extensions. The coverage stays with the VIN when the bike is sold.

I would have to pay out of pocket to have a different dealer take care of my Spyder.

Your question tweaked my brain, so I brought up the dealer's website to see if I can garner any information about their business.
And I was wrong. In the discussions with the sales person, I was told about 2 locations, and a third location that was the "warehouse" where CAN-AM delivered their orders, and then their own shipper delivered to each location.

They are showing 5 locations in Tennessee, and 3 of them are CAN-AM dealers.

So I'm not worried about whether they'll be in business for the duration of my service contract with them.

Yes, it is in the contract that I can get a pro-rated refund should I cancel the warranty. W/I 60 days, 100% refund... then pro-rated. I would do this before buyer actually buys the bike from me.

Of course, I would give buyer the option first to retain the contract or to get the discount that I could offer with cancellation of it.

I sold my 2018 with just a month or less on the warranty and told buyer they could have it transferred... but the amount of time left was so insignificant that it did not matter. It can be transferred if not cancelled by the owner first.
