• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Iron Butt Association rides

Aussie spyder

New member
Recently i completed a I.B.A. SS 2000 ( 2000 km/1250ml in 24hr ) on my spyder in Australia.in 2007 i completed a SS 1600 (1600 km /1000ml in 24hr) and a BB 2500 (2500km/1550ml in36hr) on a yamaha V-star.i belief Docdoru completed a CC 50 (coast to coast in the U.S in 50 hr), and also that there is a Spyder ryder who completed the 2001 I.B.A rally(11 day's of 1000ml a day). i like to know if there are other Spyder ryders who have completed any I.B.A rides ,on a spyder or any other make or model motorcycle.looking forward to hear from you.

Greetings Henk

Forrest (effgjamis): SaddleSore 1000 on his RS.
BJT and dltang: SaddleSore 1000 on RS.

When the Spyder first was delivered, there were a couple of folks who immediately did SS1000 and BBG (1500 mile) rides, and at least one who did back to back 50CC rides. Most are not SpyderLovers.

IBA Jack Shoalmire Tribute Ride

I completed the SS1000 & BBG1500 in one week last year.
This Sat. the IBA is having a SS100 Jack Shoalmire Tribute Ride http://www.nmpcs.com/Jacks_Ride/FAQ.html. One of Jacks' dreams was to ride a SS1000 in every state. In his memory the IBA is having at least one rider complete the SS1000 in every state on the same day. Oct. 15[SUP]th[/SUP] is the day for the tribute rides. The SS1000 has to be completed within the state the ride is done in. When they ask for volenteers they didn’t have anyone to ride for Nevada so I will be doing my ride in Nevada, which means I will ride from my home (Citrus Heights, CA) to Verdi, NV and then start the SS1000 from there. I will be doing the Nevada Tour of Honor http://www.tourofhonor.com/ which will give me the 1272 miles for the Tribute ride so I might as well go for another BBG1500. This is the route I plan to take http://g.co/maps/mbdg9
This will be a good test for the 09 Spyder.
You all ride safe and be happy.

I can't imagine I'd love my Spyder after riding for that long, either. :joke:

Congratulations on your Iron Butt rides. A lot of people might think we're crazy, but, to quote from the documentation of my 2001 Iron Butt Rally experience, "There is no finer feeling in the world than to be on the road, cruising through the desert early in the morning with the sun to your back and indescribably beautiful scenery to your right, left, front and rear. This type of experience happens only once or twice in a person’s lifetime. Riding the Iron Butt Rally enables the lucky riders the opportunity to partake in these kinds of spiritual experiences and for that I’ll be eternally grateful!" In the 2001 IBR, I rode a 2000 Honda Goldwing, slightly mod'ed out. I had a 4.5 gallon aux fuel tank in my right saddlebag to extend my riding between gas stops. If you like to read the story, go to: http://web.me.com/slybird/Site/Iron_Butt_Rally_Story.html I'll to attach a couple of pictures of the Rally.

I wish you the very best of luck in your rides and always ride within your limits (aka ride safe!)

Feel free to keep in touch with me at [email protected]

Take care, my friend!

I completed the Saddle Sore 1,600 km Ride on the first Saturday in June 2009. I rode my 2008 RS. Looking forward to going around the Great Lakes next Summer. It will be a little more comfortable (I am guessing) on my 2012 RT-S :ohyea:

Completed five IBA rides as we speak. Four of them with Spyder RT and one "Midnight Sun" ride with my old FZR. Four rides in Finland and one in Canada.

First SS 1000 last year September, second was my winter ride SS 1600K at January 22th, SS 1000 "Midnight Sun" at June 22th, SS 1000 at August, when we had group of bikers (and one RT) and rode as small roads as possible to maximize number of turns. The latest so far is BB1500GOLD at Canada (Trans Canada Hvy) about three weeks ago. :spyder2:

You could check how fun is to ride RT on winter roads. Unfortunately story is in Finish but video tells it all. ;)
