• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

IPod Controls

I have a 2010 Spyder RTS, and I was wondering if there was any way to control your IPod so that it's not always on random? Just curious...

It's all in how you set up your playlists.

You can navigate next / previous song with a short press, and next previous playlist with a long press. I've found that when you select a playlist, it plays in the order that was set when I sync my Ipod.

Alright. I will try to play with it some more. I thought it just automatically put the iipod in shuffle mode when you connect it to the spyder. I sent you an email back with my # Dave so that we can discuss riding this weekend.

If it's in shuffle, I think it stays there. Sometimes I need to unplug mine, set a playlist, then plug it in. After that it seems to work as advertised.

You guys do know you can long press the set button when in iPod play mode and get a menu to allow you to select play lists, artists, and titles? Works great for me.

Huh? I'll have to give that a try!!! I got the iPod for Christmas last year- just for the Spyder, and I'm still trying to get used to iTunes!!! :banghead::banghead:

Some tips from me:

1) I did not make any playlists and you do not have too!
2) Watch out for MP3 or WAV music files that do not have embeded Artists and Titles! WAV files do not have support for this info. The Ipod and iTunes will file them in funny categories without that info. A music CD rip is especially a problem with this if you RIP the CD with software that does not capture this information.
3) If you have music that does not have this info, then you have to use the PAINFUL process in iTunes to "properties" the music file and fill in the minimum info. Artist, Song name, Album, Genre (optional). If you do not do this then when you go into the music menu on your iPod or on the spyder, you will not be able to find songs by name, artist, etc.
4) Once you have music loaded with the proper info, you can then select things like an entire album to play, look at lists of songs by Artists, and also scroll through song names and make your own playlist.

If you need any help, just let me know. I spent a lot of time figuring this all out because like you, I was new to IOS and music on it.

Good information. I was able to get the menu selection, toggle over to the second screen, scroll down to other playlists, etc. - But how do you select to make the change?

I always leave my iPod in shuffle mode, so I would not have noticed if it was a quirk in the Spyder interface, too. I will say that there are two iPod settings you have to be sure to check. The iPod itself should be manually set to turn the shuffle (random) mode off, and it should not be set to "Shake to shuffle." If that is on it will shuffle when you hit a bump.

 Now I'm going to have to experiment with mine...
Thanks for this information!
Keep pushing your center button when you are on a song. It will cycle through your options... Use the outer ring to adjust the song volume and song progress. When you get to the setting for songs/albums, make sure your jog shuttle is off. Turn the jog dial to the left and press OFF to make sure it is not set for shuffling songs or albums.

I like the playlists because I like to group my music, but not necessarily by artist, genre or others...
I did learn about adding the details to the mp3, but it was a little late - this was quite a while back, but it ended up being easier to rip my CD's again with the proper settings :)
I did play with the set button, and like what I saw! I'll need to play a bit more with that!

Some more tips for the iPod in a Spyder

Just some more tips from me for you iPod users.

The below saves battery life while your parked as the iPod is on all the time! I have let mine sit for a week and it still had battery.

1) Turn airplane mode on! You wont be using wifi or BT when mounted in the spyders trunk.
2) Set screen brightness to lowest it will go. You wont be using the screen while it is mounted in the trunk.
3) Turn on Do Not Disturb. You don't need APPs to try and get notifications. Even though wifi is off APPs still try now and then to get a notifications. This save CPU cycles and thus battery.

Go right one more time.

Thank you - That worked. I did not even notice the extra arrow, I was so excited.

Now some info for you too. When you park your Spyder and have been listening to music, and want to keep it playing, after turning of the Spyder, immediately push and hold the mode button for 5 seconds. You now have music and all the music controls. To turn the music off, press your 4 way flasher button twice. Happy ryding, and please stop at an In-N-Out and have a Double Double for me. I moved from So Cal 8 years ago and miss the DD. Harvey...

It's buried in the settings menu someplace. Seems every model is a bit different. I set mine to random right away and leave them that way, so it has been too long for me to give you an accurate blow-by-blow, but it is there.

Settings in the ipod? I'm confused by what you said above to turn shuffle off in the ipod then turn shuffle on somewhere else... or is that a typo?
