• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Iphone On An RT-S

My iphone on a 2013 RT-S has so much static on a call that my wife can't hear me. I haven't seen this problem mentioned on SL before. Because no one has posted on it, I suspect it has to do with my settings on the audio system of the RT. I have carefully read the doc that my dealer gave me on the settings for the CB -- which include the settings on parts of the audio system -- but I still don't have it right.

If others have had this problem -- and have solved it -- could you share your settings with me as a place to start?

I have the Iphone connected through the short Ipod/Iphone cable in the rear trunk. I play music through the system from the Iphone and have no problems hearing it in the headset. The Iphone is connected to the Garmin 665 via bluetooth and I can control the phone: dial out manually, dial out with voice, call home, etc.

It's just that when I call my wife or she calls me we hear hissing and noise on the line to the point that we can't hear each other. I have the VOX turned off so there is no hissing between our voices.

The music is nice but the phone is essential on long trips.

So, if you do not have this problem, please share your settings with me (assuming that mine are wrong).

I believe the noise is caused by iPod/iPhone cable/circuit in the trunk. I think you are hearing the charging of the device. I would try it without it plugged into the bike. I have a 2010 RT A/C and my iPhone did that. I was riding and had the problem. I pulled over, unplugged the iPhone from the cable and it worked fine after that. I listen to the XM or FM radios. Do you have the same static when the engine is turned off or when the engine is at idle? It could also be that the cell phone interface cable is connected backwards, which makes the GPS mic live and not the helmet mic.

Sounds like a bad connection, which could be a loose pin in a connector, or a bad solder joint. You may need a replacement cable/harness if that is the case.

Still no solution

I'm still having problems hearing my wife -- she can't hear me either -- on my Iphone. Someone suggested it might be charging; I unhooked the Iphone from the cable but the problem persists. Also, a fellow Spyder owner said that he had been told the wiring of the Iphone module sometimes needs to be reversed. Anyone know anything about this.

My Service Manager thinks it is in the settings. I would really appreciate it if anyone whose Iphone can be heard could send me the various settings -- or take a quick photo of them.

If none of this works, I will get another cable and try that.

Thanks...

I can hear fine on my Iphone hooked to the Ipod cable using bluetooth through my Scala Rider.

Ken, congratulations on the new 2013 RT!
