There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.
I have a 2014 RTL. It has the center mount gps. How can I mount a holder and still use the gps? I don't mind running power to the front from the rear truck but I just want to be able to see my phone.
It is a SS bolt milled to replace one of the handlebar bolts and it had a 1" RAM ball mounted on the top. You would still have to run power to that point but you could get the phone and GPS stacked, one on top of the other.
I think that is designed for if you don't have factory GPS and would not work well. The factory cradle rotates over a large path and if you put one of those in the top handlebar hole it would interfere with the rotation of the cradle and limit your range to probably something that was unusable. The better option would be Spyder Cuff by Lamonster or the JT mount above the dash.
I've attached some photos to illustrate. 1 and 2 show show the range of the swivel front to back, 3 is about normal position for me but can change based on sun, etc. It may appear you could get the handlebar bolt/ball in there but you really can't and as stated would eliminate any more rearward tilt. Pic 4 shows my Spyder Cuff with Tech mount on right side. I mounted it low because up higher it seemed like it was always in my line of sight and the screen when off would be a big mirror and annoying. I don't need to look at phone often and its fine there when stopped at lights, etc. If it rains and phone is mounted I can grab it and throw in glove box. Only negative is when phone is in (a large Samsung Note) both the glove box and seat can hit when raised (unless wheels turned to left). No biggie for me. Also have the JT mount on top of dash but nothing mounted there yet - maybe a go pro or something. Right now I put a portable battery back in glove box and plug into phone if needed - but if you do that, make sure you have plenty of slack - ask me how i know!
