There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. ipad is very limited on the RT

Just switched from PC to Mac last year and all I can say is "I LOVE MY MAC" and I will never go back to another PC !!:ohyea:

Our Ipod does this as well. Just an FYI... Drives me nuts. Rocking out as we pull in to a stop... Only to start back up and be listening the the music we started the trip with :gaah::roflblack:

Here is what I have done, I do not turn the ipod touch off. When the bike fully shuts down, the ipod touch "seems" to stop playing at that point. I have left it sit for 5 days in the garage, and when I started back up... right where I left off...

Our I-Pad works great on Spyder

We bought a used I-Pad from a friend, loaded it with our music and created playlists. We can scroll through our playlists and songs within the playlist with the Spyder controls. I do agree that it starts from the beginning each time, but we can forward to any point and start playing from there. My only issue is it doesn't stay plugged in, but I just fixed that with a very long velcro strap wrapped around the I-Pad and plug.

You are correct... the ipad does work the same on my RTS as the ipod does. The thing I noticed is that it does not charge while connected. It says not charging in the upper corner. From reading the forums this is normal. Guess I will stick with the ipod touch, as it charges while connected to the connector in the RTS. I guess with a 10 hour battery one could make it most of the day before it need to be charged.

Per my IT geek friends; since the screen does not have to turn on for the I-Pad to use it's I-Pod feature the battery will last significantly longer then normal. Just an FYI

ok good to know .. how well does the IPAD fit in the back trunk?

good to know that it will work just like an IPOD with control function and able to view playing song etc on the Spyder

for now will stick with the latest iTouch 4th generation... maybe someday get an iPAD2 with the apple care package. since the battery is not user changeable ... bummer so need care package after 2 years when the battery is EOL.

The times I've used the iPad on the RT the cable keeps slipping out of it. The pod/phone will lay down on the bottom of the well but the pad will flop around in there unless you have it secured. But I love my iPad.

When the Ipad says "not charging" it means it's not charging because the screen is on. When the screen shuts off it will charge. Says the same thing when plugged into USB on laptop.

Per Apple Tech support, it has nothing to do with the screen, only the power that the usb port has. A "true" usb 2.0 port with full power will charge the ipad screen on or not. They said that most usb ports do not meet the full spec and do not provide enough power to charge the ipad. I do know that my old ipod cig charger works just fine so I use it. To test I ran my ipad in the back of my RTS for a couple of days (I am guessing that the screen is off while it is is back there and plugged into the bike) and the charge went from 100 to 80....

A USB 2 hub will not charge the iPad if other devices are powered off of it (go directly off the Mac), or if you grab an older cable, from a prior generation iPod or iPhone.. I have a half dozen cables, and some will properly connect, and some won't.

The connector in my '10 Prius charges it fine, but the one in my '08 Infinity won't. Seems Apple changes the pin out in the connectors ....

I think it does charge on RT

We spent yesterday riding for at least 6 hours listening to the music on our I-Pad through the Spyder. When we got home I turned the I-Pad on to get the latest Syderfest updates and noticed the I-Pad was at 100%. So that would tell me the I-Pad does charge while plugged in. Anyone else notice that? :chat:

Just for grins I plugged my ipad into the RT yesterday just to see if it would work. It will play music but all you have is volume control, that's it. Not sure why that is seeing it's just an oversize ipod. :dontknow:;)

The same is true for the Iphone 4. The system just sees it as an "oversize ipod". I moved the Ipod connection from the rrunk to the front console and mounted my Iphone4 on a Techmount for GPS and music. I found that when it played music it always started with AC/DC and went through each song by that artist, then to Aerosmith etc.

The work around for me was that I went to 'genre' on the iphone, selected my rock music and now the songs play in aplha order by song, not by artist.

Still haven't found a way to shuffle though...:(

I did some nifty things with dual bluetooth transmitters connected to the iphone4 via a 3.5mm connector and was able to simultaneously push music and gps to both mine and my wife's Oneal Tirade helmets. That was much better on the longer ride than the console speakers!

Nice meeting you at Spyderfest, and you have a GREAT looking Spyder.

I don't have the iPad, but I can attest to a full charge on the iPhone4.
