• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

This update is the biggest release since the launch of the App Store, with hundreds of new features including new Messages and Photos features, QuickType keyboard, a new Health app, Family Sharing, iCloud Drive and more.

Anyone buying the new iPhone6 ?

My Iphone 5 started acting up last week when I was on a trip. It might have something to do with water....it was randomly turning off and partially rebooting. So when I got home I went to Verizon to see about getting it replaced under their insurance. Seems that that option would cost me an additional $180 on top of the $8/month that I have paid for 24 months. :banghead: I didn't think I was eligible for a replacement for another month but they said I was eligible now so I am taking the plunge and have ordered the IPhone 6. Just the plain 6 not the super large 6S. They have a recycle plan gong on which will give me a $200 Visa card for my old phone and the new one is $199.

But in the meantime, I am not going to update my current phone, which has been working just fine since I decided to get rid of it. :banghead:
 
Ok, I have been playing around with this new iOS 8 for a couple of hours and I really like it.

There are many new features that make it much better than any previous ones. The new keyboard is awesome. I love how it gives you choices for words above the keyboard as you type. SIRI can even tell you what song is playing, on the radio or wherever.
As I weave my way through the various apps/programs you immediately see the changes that have been applied. I can't wait to do more investigations.

Is it worthy...

Thinking about the 6, My iphone 4 is up for replacemebt, end of term, but I don't think I can get the same data package that I have now, I'm with Telus. Negotiations are in order I suppose.

If you get the new iPhone 6 this may already be included.
It's been a real makeover with this current update.

Those designers really did their jobs this go around. I know that Steve would be proud of them.

Looking forward to learning more about this vastly improved OS.

Why not the plus? I'm going to take over my gf's iPhone 5S and buy her the 6 or 6 plus. That's why I ask.

Cell phones started out huge then got really small now we seem to be headed to huge again. The 6S is really big and so is the price. Also, you can't get one until mid November and I'm sure that the moment I would have signed up for that my current 5 would have quit working permanently.

Yep totally acting like I've finally lost my mind. But based on what verizon is giving to upgrade to the 6...I'm going for it. Now our closest store is 1 hour away...so since I reallllly like to be early (and first in line!!). Me and Spyder headed out early. When they give $200 for an iphone 4 (trading grandson my 5 for his 4) and the new 6 is $199...(ok there is the $30 to activate new phone)...for me that is a wise $$ decision. I would reup anyway so no issue there. Only boo hoo is I use the Lifeproof case which is wonderful for saving and using my phone on Spyder.
Sooooo I have an Lifeproof case (fits my Iphone 5..). Anybody want a good deal? Pm me..
And yes the new update is NICE...

its nice to hear about all you IOS users finally getting so many of the features Android users have had for some time...:p
 
I installed it last night on my 5s and will do my wife 5s & iPad air when i can,only problem was that it's BIG and i had to delete apps. to make room for the download as it is a 16gig iPhone,i put them back on after upgrading,can't wait till Oct.21 for the new OSX to be available (will have to install on 5 of my 7 Mac's,2 are too old)

I think it is the size of the 6 plus that will deter most men. Women probably will like it as they carry it in their purse and not in their pocket. Also the 6 plus will be harder to operate with one hand unless you have VERY large hands. I don't have either yet but when I do it will be the 6 (4.7" screen).
 
A few minor gliches

But over all, I really am enjoying this new iOS8 on my iPad 3rd g.
It has many hidden benefits that take a little time getting used to, too.

I hope that the folks using it, appreciate the work that went into building it, and then offer it to us for a nominal free!!

Verizon, gave me $200.00 for my 4s so I walked out of the Verizon store today with a new Iphone 6.
