• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Introduction and plea for help

I’m Bob AKA TheGrayGhost on the forum. Just bought, the first part of Nov., a 2012 gray Spyder RTSE . Ready for the 600 mi. check and having a great time with it. To bad it’s snowing out now.
The help I need is removing the front panel so I can easily install a set of Elka front shocks. Any suggestions will be appreciated .

I forget what they are called, i believe there are some of those plastic posts you pop up with a flat screw driver blade, like the one that holds down the black covers above the frunk. I believe there are some of these posts inside the front air channels that you can pop out and allows these panels to separate. I poped a few of them out to route a wire between the air channels and the body panels for my underlight kit. i know it may not be a complete answer, but should help a little.

Just FYI
There is really no need to remove any panels. The four bolts you need to get to are all accessible with one of the uppers being tough. Click on my mods link in my signature below or see "SteveMac Mods" in that forum I have some more info there. The job will probably take you an hour or so for he first set. With some practice you can do a set in a half hour or so. Be sure to install in the correct direction! The springs will be on the lower side!

Do not remove any panels, at most it would help to jack up the front end to get the tires off the ground, but it can be done without lifting. Very easy mod.
All you will need is two wrenches.

Thanks everyone, your advice and suggestions were very helpful. Warming up the garage ( it's 30.2 at 9:15 AM ) then I'm going to start again. Without your help I was on my way to installing the Elkas upside down .
Thanks again I hope to meet some of you in April at Cuba, MO.
Bob
