• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

internal service record?

I called a dealer to see what all they do on their 600 mile service. They pretty much said change the oil and kick the tires. So I said...... Hell I'll just do that myself. Then he said that they reset the service meter internally and that it requires their computer (assume buds) to record the service on the internal computer and that I wouldn't be able to do that. Do they really go in and record an event on the computer? I smell something... :lecturef_smilie:

Service record

Apparently they do. That's why you don't get a service record book, it's all logged on the computer system (BUDS)

If you do your own service can you then take it to the dealer to have the BUDS updated? Will they charge you? Will they tell you your warranty may be voided without dealer service?

Attached is a screenshot from a demo on BUDS.

I just called my dealer for all my service records to present to a possible buyer of my bike. He said sure, 95.00 for the maintenance report. I find it ridiculous that these guys need to nickel and dime you to death. I like these guys, but that ticked me off and put a bad taste in my mouth to possibly purchase a 2014 there.:banghead:

call a different dealer. All the systems are hooked together over the internet, I think.

I do most my own maintenance and just keep a thorough record and receipts for everything - mine as well as other places.

First service..!!

should be done by the dealer. It is an oil change but much more. They do diagnostics through buds and updates we don't know about. Plus if something should go wrong they did see it was breaking in right. After that service you can do your own work and have them hook up to buds for updates and stored codes if any..jmo...

Dealer couldn't get me in for a few weeks when I had called to schedule an appointment. They informed me that I could continue to ride it well past 600 miles and it didn't matter just bring down in a few weeks because I couldn't possibly ride it too many miles in that time frame. I couldn't handle it. I had to change the oil myself. I'm glad I did too because I'm now at 950 miles and It would still be another week to go so I'd be damn near double the first service before they touched it. The weather lately has been ideal for riding and I'm getting all the riding in before it turns HOT outside. I'm not made for heat

I had 2,100 miles on my 2010 when it went in for the first service. I bought it with 1,500 on it and it was 600 miles home. Never had any issues with that and I purchased my 2013 at Pitbull and it was 1,400 miles home and a couple hundred more before it went in. Again, never a problem with BRP on that. On my 2014 I took it in for the first service but we changed the oil not the dealer. I was over the 3,000 miles on this one too.

Did my first oil on my 14 with 6666, on it and oils was still cleaning looking, not bad on 14 teens, but now have two kets with me so I can do my own. Lots of dealers do not have kits or parts to do oil changes on the 14 yet, but some do? Keep one with you at all times. Never know when you will need it?

That is crazy that dealers can't get the oil change kits for the 2014s. My dealer had the filter and oring when I was ready to change mine. But they had only recently received them.

I know like I said lots of them have not gotten theirs yet. But Iam good to go. Iam leave for canada going to brps open house should be fun. Time I get their will need a tire againe 3 so far, than off to outher shows, goldwing and more. Love my new bike for shure. Will miss you all at Wa get to geather. Have fun

Did the 600 oil change on my 2012 at Lamont's 2012 BBQ. Had 830 on the clock. When we did the 2014 demo ride back in April, had my dealer put it on BUDS just to check it. They reset the service clock on it then. No charge. I do all the service on both of ours.

If you look at the 2014 BRP catalog on line, there are no service kits available for any of the Spyders. There are no trailers available either.

how much do they charge for the first service? I just got mine and only have a 150miles on it. why not just let them do it. unless they get some crazy amount?
