• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. Interesting vibration change

Just for info - After changing to a Kuhmo 205/55 on the rear, the test ride appears to show a change in what I am assuming is belt vibration. The vibration has moved from being briefly "accelerated through" at about 106kph (on the way to 110kph - 70mph), to vibrating around 110kph. 110kph is the majority of the freeway speed limits around here, so it's not very pleasant after the first 10 minutes or so.

Bummer.....I'll now have to avoid freeways :clap:until I get my belt tensioner installed (along with a belt tension check (I was able to twist the belt by hand past 90degrees) and ROLO wheel alignment)........not that avoiding freeways is a hardship, but sometimes you just want to take the quickest way home.

I was was a bit worried on my test ride at first because I thought I had screwed up the wheel reinstall and it was about to fall off, or that I was one of those who got a poorly manufactured tyre.....doesn't look like it though.:ohyea:

Funny you said that, because it wasn't until i change the air filter on my bike that i notice a real bad vivration on take off, but only when she's cold! Checked the belt tension and it read 120! Shes in hibernation now! This bikesare hard to figure sometimes!

VIBRATION CHANGE

Pete because of the change in the rear tire size you have effectively changed the gear ratio ..... so this moved when you would feel the vibes.............. Mike

...Why didn't Pete get a Kunho in the stock tire size?

Stock size ANYTHING tires are not readily available in Oz!

And even if you don't mind waiting while the retailers import any stock sized tire from Off-shore (which usually takes them a couple of weeks) they charge like wounded bulls (often more than 200%) for the privilege of getting you a 'useless & not commonly manufactured sized tire' - and besides, here in Oz, we are allowed to use any alternative motor vehicle tire that is within a certain size range, just so long as the alternative matches the bead profile of the rim (in the case of our Spyders, that'd be a MOTOR CAR bead profile!) and the alternative tire's specs 'match or exceed' the load & speed recommendations of the tire shown on the placard.... And Aust laws & our Consumer Protection Agencies act rapidly & very strenuously to prohibit any businesses/companies from forcing 'monopolies of supply' upon purchasers of their products by specifying/mandating a restriction in size or product replacement parts which only they can supply, especially if there are similarly sized products that are capable of doing the same thing as well or better than the original spec product.

thanks Peter

Hahaha......what HE said, Ann:thumbup:. .....far more eloquently than I could possibly have expressed it. :2thumbs:

Yeah, I thought that might be the case, Mike, especially when my wheel didn't fall off:ohyea:Hopefully the belt adjustment and fitting the tensioner will get rid of it.

FWIW Pete.....I have an F3-S and I had the vibes at around 110kph which could be driven through and thus ignored.
BUT they disappeared after about 10000kms and I forgot about them. I have since changed my rear tyre to a 225.50.15 Toyo Proxes T1-R
and still don't have vibes! I am convinced that as the belt wears in it becomes more flexible and thus tends not to "sing" quite as much.

Thanks OJ. I just realised that I accidentally typed that the vibration occurs at 100kph in my first post, when it should have been 110kph, so I have corrected that:opps:.

The issue for me is that you can ride through the vibes over there, but it's right at the freeway speed over here, and if you ride at 115kph, some zealous constable is likely to book you, while if you ride at 105kph, some inattentive b-double truck driver is likely to clean you up. :yikes:

Riding "through" the belt vibration was a non event for me, but after 15 minutes of riding "in" it, it becomes a source of annoyance:sour:. I'm hopeful that the belt realignment and fitting the tensioner will address it to some extent, and that a few more km on the clock will also assist.
