• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Interesting…Just Stumbled Onto This YouTube Video Of A Can AM Jack

I've seen this....

I've seen "Big Blue" before, but never noticed that it seems to have been designed to lift using the Rear Shock mount as it point of contact. From what I've read, this is a BIG No-No and should not be used as a lifting point.
Please correct me if I'm wrong...

I'd like to see some better pictures of that rear "attachment point" also... :bbq::bbq::bbq:

:agree:! From the very first part of the video it looks like the rear lift cradle is long enough that it completely spans the two shock mounts which would be fine and doesn't contact the bottom of the shock itself which would bend the shock mounting bolt. A better or additional pic is in order IMO.

You mean like this? I copied this right out their instruction manual.

attachment.php

There is a conflict in the 2013 service manual. In one place it says to make sure the jack cups the lower portion of the rear shock absorber. In other places it says do not lift under rear shock absorber. That's what you get when two or more people who don't agree write different parts of the same document. Search the manual for "rear shock" and you'll find the conflicts.

Lamont, can you tell us what the official word is from BRP? Which one of the manual instructions is correct? I'm surprised that this conflict in instructions still exists after this many years of Spyder production.

Well..!!

its been the rounds here before. A very nice lift and well made but as mentioned very expensive. Wish I could but I can't but have a very suitable lift from craftman that does the job well...

rear shock bolt

That bolt that holds the shock has the weight of the rear of the Spyder on it 24/7. I can't imagine jacking it up from there will hurt it. I have lifted engines out of cars with smaller bolts than that! I have removed that bolt many times, and never saw one bent. I have used it as a jacking point; never had an issue. I regularly put a jackstand there when removing a rear tire. Like well over 100 times. Never an issue. JMHO, Joe
