• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Interactive, National Touring Map

Scotty....

Yeah, I notice that if you want to read one of the articles, you eventually have to pay for it. The good thing is that, at least, you can grab a Google map of the ride.

Btw, the best collection I've ever seen of routes all over the US is from HD. They are collected in a large, heavy, spiral-bound book. It -- Rand McNally Harley Ride Atlas -- came out in 2008 and used costs $150. They do have maps of individual cities but for information, this collection can't be beat.

Oh, yes, they also have 975 of the maps (not sure of they are the same as the Rand McNally maps) in an Iphone app for $5.

Still, I keep looking in used book stores for the original at a sale price of $20 (silly me!)

This brings up a very good point that to this date I have been confused doesnt seem to exist.

I have been a programmer and web-type person for some time, and I am astonished that there is not a site where you can plot a course from A to B, and set a tolerance of say "X" miles, and it can show you all the stuff on the route you could see if you were willing to deviate from the standard path.

It shouldnt be to awful hard, you include that with an option to click a box for "interstate" or "small road" or "twisty!" or something like that. Then it would recalculate the route based on what it knows about the roads. So then you could take your trip, see all the crazy stuff around that area that you COULD check out, and allow for some kind of rider input and classification which would basically make you an electronic map planner that could be better that not knowing where stuff is, but also not as good as a local guide.

Eventually you add in events (dates / seasonal stuff), construction, and like local dives / food.

This is a good idea, I should call someone.

[Edit 1]:Oh yea, make it have a small fee if you like to spit out GPS files (like 20 bucks a year or some such non-sense).
[Edit 2]:What about some freaking weather planning in there too if the trip is close or even as the trip gets closer. HECK YEA
