• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Insurance

Depends a lot on your area, just make sure it's insured as a "sport-touring" bike, not a sport bike, I saved about 200 bucks that way.

My insurer is State Farm. I received coverage identical to my Toyota Camry, for a cost of $285 per year.

State Farm - they initially charged me $435/year, over $100 more than my BMW, then two weeks ago, they sent me a $236 check. The math says $199/yr....

Virtually the same thing happened to me. Just slightly different amounts. Have to admit I'm totally mystified!:dontknow:

I have State Farm as well and am insured through them with my car, my boyfriends car, my house and now my Spyder. They're charging me just over 300$ year. Probably a little higher because I had an accident earlier in the year after more than 5 years without one.

wow i got a quote of 150 a month i did not think that could be right how about riding classes did you have to take them to get the lower rate

Geico, with full coverage (and I mean full), is a little over $400.00 a year....if you opt out of a few options, it will be quite a bit less...

I haven't taken the riding classes yet and only have an MC permit, not a full license. I also have full coverage and a $250 deductible. I heart state farm.

AARP/Foremost, $337/yr in Michigan.

Oh sure "retired Mike" vs. "Have a nice day at work Mike"! (to quote you!)...that's a great deal! My premium is a little more because I'm 50 years younger! :roflblack: :roflblack: :roflblack: (I'm so funny...in my own head!) :D

state farm is who i have

I spend $540 per year with State Farm. No multi-car discount. I am 46, I have an excellent driving record. never an accident that was my fault. no speeding ticket since 1984.

I had quotes ranging from 1400-2600 a year when i first got my spyder and ended up going with state farm for 722 every 6 months. A year later when state farm went up to 830 every 6 months (with no tickets/wrecks/claims of any kind) i decided it was time to take another look at the insurance and went with progressive at 800 a year.

how much and who has the best deal on Insurance.

I hate to be a wet blanket but you really need to ask local folks. Rates vary significantly by company, state, credit and even down to zip code. Insurance available in one state may not even be available in yours.

:2thumbs:

Shop around . . . .

:agree:

. . . . almost all the motorcycle insurance sites will allow you to estimate your insurance or get a quote on the internet. Play with the deductibles and limits - they will make a huge difference. So will the year of the Spyder - I bought an 08 and that saved me around $100 off the top. AtaDude is right, your location is a big factor, so is your age, driving record, etc.

So get the quotes, figure which options make a big difference, call your local offices. Like anything, if you shop around and educate yourself, you will find the best deal for you.

I have Geico. (for all my insurance) I am paying the same as Bonecrusher, just under $400/year.

wet blanket? I think that's great advice...each state is different and each state has different insurance companies working there...
