There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. Insurance Question

I called my insurance company(Progressive) today to get a quote on a '14 RT/LTD SE6. For comparison purposes, I had their renewal premium($819.00) for my '09 GL1800 Hannigan Trike in front of me. I provided them with a VIN from the dealer. I was floored:yikes: when they said it would cost me $600.00 more annually. I was thinking with all the safety features built into the Spyder, compared to my Level 2 GL1800, that the premium wouldn't be much different. Plus, the 1330 is smaller and is slightly less powerful than the GL1800.
My questions are:
1. From an insurance perspective are Spyders seen as less safe?
2. Who do people with RTs insure with?
Thanks
Mike

Farm Bureau in Tennessee charges premiums based on the motorcycle's worth, not safety or performance. The more the bike costs the higher the premium. I'm paying about $500 a year full coverage, $100 deductible.

Check out Nationwide. I was amazed at the money I saved over Progressive and all other quotes. I have a 2014 Spyder RT LTD and 2 other bikes.

Rider Insurance

These guys saved me. Without them I wouldn't have gotten a Spyder. It would all depend on your history of couse but I'm paying about $280 a year for my 2014 ST Limited. Rider Insurance, 800-595-5693, www.rider.com

That seems way too high. I am using Esurance (they use AMIG) and I'm paying in the mid $400 range. It went up when I went to the 1330 engine from the mid $300 range.

Sorry that I'm late to the game... :opps:
Prices will vary a lot; depending on just what target audience the company is trying to write...
Never mind the NORMAL variables! :D
You've got to remember that your Spyder is a sizeable investment; :lecturef_smilie: find the company that will give you the BEST service first! The premium; while important... should NOT be the deciding factor.
If you buy cheap and things go wrong; don't be surprised if the claims process offers up a rude awakening!

36 years of selling this stuff...

I had Markel for 2 years because a few people on this forum recommended them and they gave me a good quote for my 2012 RS. Then I had a friend buy a brand new ST, I know he had a few tickets and one accident, I had neither for over 10 years. They gave him a lower rate for the same coverage. We are the same age and I am female he is a male. So I started shopping around again and Went with American Family. For the Same coverage I pay 192.00 per year and Markel was 327.00 per year. Its hard to tell who is better if something bad happens, how are you to know until something bad happens? So I just went with the lower rate.

Does anyone have any experience with American Reliable Insurance? I got a quote from them for $402 a year with $1000 deductible. And that's without a riding course as I haven't done that yet.

I use them in my office.
They're not my "go-to" Company; but they ain't bad! :D
About half the time; The American Modern Group can beat them for price, and I KNOW that their claims handling is awesome! :2thumbs:
Don't ask how I know... :opps:

So Bob, how do you know that??? :D

I have Geico and they have been really good to me (I even had a claim about 5years ago with them).

Looks like I'll probably go with American Reliable at least for now. Geico wanted $1700, Progressive wanted $700 and esurance redirects to Progressive. What's killing me here is probably that I haven't taken a rider course yet and am a new rider.

Give me a course and a year of experience under my belt and I'll probably be able to do better.

Ah the joys of insurance in New Jersey. I pay $1400 a year for a 7 year old car. Haven't had a claim or an accident in over 20 years. smh

You're right: the entire "New Rider" thing is what's biting you on the bottom! :yikes:
Time and experience will help!

And "Patience"... is the one virtue, that you can't WAIT to acquire! :D
