Story goes... I just put down 1000 dollars and getting my spyder in a couple days. I am so excited, but the insurance for a 21 year old with a clean record is out of this world. The cheapest quote I can get is from Fischer which is 1318 a year. The most expensive is 6100 a year with all state... and all i can say is LOL. So just wondering if anyone is kind of in the same boat and what your all paying..

Holy Moly! I'll be paying around 400 a year. But I am way older than you!
Are you calling other places for quotes? I'm with Geico. Did you try that one or Progressive or State Farm? Someone's gotta know of other deals around. I hope you find something cheaper!

I called around for quotes as well and i'm 30 with a clean record. Progressive wanted 2200, Geico wanted 2400, Formost 1600 and McGraw 900. Its sad when my insurance on the spyder will be more than both my cars together :-(

Where do you live? Holy smokes on rates ,you young ,got bad driving record ,dont anwser.Im thinking your on the east coast or a bad rate area.Keep shopping, deal with the company not a agent , looks like price gouging to me good luck from Oregon 8)

I just went through the exact same thing.
Geico and Progressive are not offered here in Massachusetts. But they advertize heavily.
My current home/car ins (Travelers/Premier) was a laughable $1376.
Other quotes were slightly less.
I went with Commerce for 809. Unfortunately, inexeprience motorcylcists last for 6 years! Even though I have a spotless Step 99 for the car, it is not helpful on the bike. Add the cost of it and you get a high fee.

Are you asking any of the agencies that are quoting you if there is anything they can modify on their quoted policy to get the price down? Like make the deductibles higher or decrease some portion of their coverage like deleting a roadside assistance coverage? You can't do anything about your age. Moving is probably not feasible. You don't have any past driving violations. I think those are the some of the main variables in insurance costs.

You should ask someone like Marc Fischer why you are hearing of insurance prices for a Spyder as low as $350 - $400 and why you can't get that price. That's what we did. I now know that Michigan has some special coverage requirements that other states don't have that cause motorcycle insurance in Michigan to be higher than other states. It didn't lower our price any but at least we know why it costs what it does.

Ouch! I'm 29, I've lost my license in the past for driving too fast too often, I'm blind in one eye and deaf in one ear, and I'm dumber than a sack of hammers. Still, Progressive insured me for $260 annually. I'd say shop around.

$260 is GREAT!

I'm in CT - I guess mine is cheaper maybe because I'm in my 40's and I use them for everything else so I got a discount?

I have a clean record... but living in Ashburn VA just outside DC. What I am told this is the richest county in the US of A (loudon County). I called probably over 7 insurance companies and th cheapest is 1314 a month and paying 1345 for a one bed room apartment is killing me too (wish I had a roomate now). Plus they require a county tax on how much your vehicle is worth

Wow. I hope they at least bought you dinner before they screwed you like that! I hope the compensation for your area makes up for the ridiculous cost of living. Make sure you try Progressive. I don't get a cookie if you choose them or anything but they did me right.

Sounds like CT where I'm from - they freakin find a way to tax everything here. Only reason I stay is the 8-5 money is pretty darn good.

I wish I got that price from them. :dontknow: I'm 50 with 1 ticket and they quoted me $1200. The cheapest I've found is Nationwide at $880. So I'm in the process of switching providers now.

Best I found for full coverage and only $250 deductibles was Allstate at $470/yr. I'm 46 with a fairly clean record, in Florida. I can't beleive the cheap ($200) rates for a $15k vehicle, must be getting low coverages or partial year.
I also switched my car and saved $400/yr.

I wemt through the same thing with everyone throwing out high prices but finally found it for 390 a year at Farmers Mutual. I had to switch my car insures to them to get it at that price but even the car insurance was cheaper.
