• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Installing mudflap lights

well...

When I switched to the Phantom kit, it said to take the wheels off the front, and I did it without doing this. It just seems like extra work and I'm not quite sure it is necessary....my hands are small so I can get them into smaller places...just thought maybe I could skip that step plus I don't know where to jack it up.

The power source is the front tip light and requires a wiring harness run from the front to the rear. I doubt it can be done without removing the wheel, but if it could, it would be much more difficult at best.

If you have to take the wheels off to do this, then you may as well get the Glo-Ryders to put on at the same time. That way you could finish 2 mods with only removing the wheels once. That is if you were looking for more lights for your Spyder. :D

Trust me on this, while it may be possible to do this mod with the wheels on, you'll save yourself hours of effort by just taking the wheels off.

I did it one wheel at a time with a small jack under the lower suspension arm. I used a piece of wood between the jack and the arm to keep from dinging the paint.

Have fun! ;)

Take it from someone who did the install wrong and shorted out ALL the lights...take the wheel off, it's easy enough to do...really...run the wire as ESI says to...no shortcuts! Make sure you tie it in as the directions say...

The mudflaps are my favorite light modification...they are great at night and if you get the ESI product that makes them work like blinkers (forgot which one that is), they really help even more.

If you don't already have them, you might want to try the front lights as well...can get LEDs for those and link them and the mudflaps together so they both work as directionals...pretty cool and quite visible...

Enjoy!

Fender tip lights

I think the fender tip lights are what you are talking about...I have those too already. I am just waiting on my carbon fiber mud flaps to put it all on at once. Where do I get LEDs for them?

ESI lights

I do have the ESI mud flap lights. I also got the fender tip lights, but they didn't come with LEDs, so i'm trying to figure out where to buy some/what type to get. I'm disappointed, I finally got the carbon fiber mud flaps and not only do they not even fit the spyder they don't look anything like they looked on the website. On the website, it looked like the stock part only carbon fiber...I got an asymmetrical mess, that definitely doesn't look stock and won't go on my spyder...what a let down. :(

Amanda--

From where did you purchase the (disappointing) cf mudflaps?

(I like to recommend vendors/dealers with good products or good customer service; I also like to steer people away from ones which are less satisfactory...)

What web site did the carbon fiber ones come from? I was also interested in doing something like that. I got the idea from something I saw on EBay, but did not know if I should trust it or not and decided not to purchase them. Sorry to hear they are not anything like you expected.

I got them from

Akio technologies or carbonfiberspyder.com. I'm hoping they will fix it though, e-mail has been sent but it is the weekend so we'll see. I'll keep everyone posted. It totally wasn't like the picture on their website. This is the same place that sells the carbon spyder stuff on eBay.

Thanks for the additional info. Sorry you had to be the one to find out about this first. :(

No problem

That's the way it goes sometimes. Someone had to figure it out. Maybe I'll get lucky and they will correct it...I hope!

I sent you a PM several weeks ago with a site for the LED fender tip bulbs. As I recall, it was called superbrightleds.com If you want leds in your fender tip lights, this is a cheap way of going.
