Installing Battery Tender Pigtails on 2014 RT

I just purchased a Battery Tender Junior for my 2014 RT. I was wondering about putting the pigtail in the frunk and was wondering how some of you did it, maybe with some pics, or am I better using the cigarette light adapter in the trunk?
I figured a hole in the battery cover and some silicone sealer to keep water from coming into the frunk., but trunk may be easier if it works as well and does not harm anything on the bike. I know I have heard something about swapping fuses, to make power to the lighter always on.

TENDER

Swap the fuse and use the trunk power outlet. No mods to the Spyder except swapping the fuse. The system is protected against short circuits. The required cigarette lighter adapter is easily purchased. The entire setup is plug and play with no chance for water leaks.
:agree: WITH THIS METHOD .............. because the other way is a problem if you remove the FRUNK for any reason , you must un-do the Battery Pigtail !!!!! :yikes:....... Mike

:agree::agree::agree: It's just easier.

mine runs up the frunk and have no problems with removing the frunk.Just remove the battery cover the wire runs behind the cover and does not leak.

+1 and I've ridden through some frog strangling rain without a drop getting into the frunk. The dealer threw in the battery tender and ran the wire right out the top center of the battery door. The wire so has a seven amp fuse in it that is the same as the power draw for my emergency compressor.

Thanks , I did pick up both the Tender Jr. & the adapter for the lighter. I will look up the part about switching fuses in the book if it is in there. Didn't see it the other day, but think somewhere on here someone said that you switch #5 & #6? They look like they are the same amp fuse.

Whatever is good 4 you!

But I ran mine through the frunk, put pigtail through the zippered lining, zipped it up with pigtail at top with zipper right up against it.
Went through a huge rain more than once
Never any water in frunk at all

I love R&R put another dime in the jukebox baby!

Pop open the frunk, and unzip the liner... (Assuming that you have one!)
You'll see two fuse boxes...
Pop the cover off of the one on the "cruise control switch" side of the bike.
Now, remove that inner fusebox cover.
On the top row of switches: you'll have one that is in either position #6, or #7.
#6 is the keyed source of power
#7 is always hot
If you're using the rear plug for your Battery Tender: make sure that the fuse is in #7

(By the way: #8 is always left empty...)

Close things back up, and you're done!

Mine runs from the battery behind the frunk to the left swing arm, where it is zip tied.

Since my charger cable is on that side of the garage, it works perfectly for me.

So, I just opened up the fuse box. The one on the left (cruise control side) looks like the attached image.

So, now I'm confused - Six, seven AND eight are filled!

:D It's easy-peasey!! :2thumbs:

Move the one that I've scribbled around (in RED), to the next slot over...
It's currently in position #6... just move it into #7.

OK - I see the confusion. The labels on the fusebox are REVERSE of what is in the manual! Look at the image; that shows numbers DESCENDING from left to right. I just pulled up the manual, and it shows the number ASCENDING left to right.

Yikes!

OK - thanks Bob!!!!
