• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Installed Tricled RT LED headlights....

Pulled the tubes....

Well.. I took it all back apart and pulled the 'tubes' off. You can see the difference in the photo. The right light has the tube still on.

Reggie, please update your instructions telling people to remove these. I'd hate to have someone leave these on and ride at night.. they reduce the light output a ton... like 50%.

Took a ride last night and am generally pleased with them. The light pattern is different, but seems to light up further down the road. There is some 'dead space' in the first 10 feet in front of the Spyder.. near the middle.. about 3 feet wide.. but it may have been like that before and I just didn't pay as much attention.

I re-aligned the lights as well and made some minor adjustments. Sure is easier on the RT than it is on the old GS/RS models!

The beam pattern is different compared to stock halogens. What you describe is similar but a larger deadspot than on our RTs. To fill this in, the foglights are a must. The foglighs will not only fill this deadspot in, but also project more to the sides.

I also notice that the LEDs are more critical in regards to the color of the road surface.

Yeah.. I figured now I'd have to get some LED fogs......

If you want the best lights in my opinion, and they are not cheap or inexpensive, find the no longer offered Can Am HID kit. Those are expensive, more difficult to install on 14 or newer, but are a level above LEDs in regards to reaching into the darkness. At $1200, not common or popular.

High power LED foglights will be the recipe to complete the front end lighting.

I am so curious to compare and see if my 3200 lumen LEDs are noticeably better than the lesser power LEDs that are being installed by so many people. I have also seen a custom install by a friend on his 15, where he installed strip style LEDs across his upper A Arms to serve as driving lights.

Track me down if you need help putting them in... I'm pretty good at it now... lol. It can be done in 20 minutes.

$200, don't bother skipping the foglights, you will regret it.
I know...
You can begin to understand how often this happens to me! :D

Paul, I may be able to compare with you. In the next week or two bike will be going in for service and then after that I will start my farkeling, including the TricLED head/fogs. Maybe a month or so unless you find somebody sooner. I think (especially after being educated) there are alot of other factors to the LEDs besides raw lumens. I'm convinced enough and trust to go with TricLED, so we will have to compare the two for sure. I'm sure there are several quality lights, I expect both of them to look great and be a huge improvement.

Agree Steve, there is no doubt junk out there and also peak lumens may not be the holy grail. I went with the Cyclops stuff based on experience with their products, knowledge that they are primarily a high performance light manufacturer and great customer support. If these guys are able to offer the lights of choice for the Baja 1000 race and many other endurance races, plus show the LED and fan submerged and withdrawn from water with no ill effects, seemed kind of convincing to me. The TricLed seems quality also, I would truly like to compare them in the near future.

Also, according to Cyclops, the LED they offer is designed to work best in a projector housing like that used in the RT series headlights and foglights.

Time will tell and be safe.

TricLED LED fog lights

Reggie doesn't have the fog light bulbs listed on site yet. All you need to do is send an email through their site requesting them and Cindy will send you a Paypal invoice for them. They cost is $99.95, same as for the headlights.

Right.... But I don't have for lights at all right now. Not sure I want to spring for the BRP ones (and then $99 for the LED's) or find an aftermarket answer.

I thought they did as it had a drop box for Fog or headlights..

I had HID's on my 2008 GS and they were amazing. Got them from xenon depot.
Wanted to try LED this time.

If you buy the TRICLED headlights remember to remove the lens covers if you don't want blue or yellow. Mine had the blue covers on them and didn't like the blue tint.

The instructions do not tell you this.

Good luck

They cut down on light output significantly.
Reggy has said they'll be pulling them out of future shipments to avoid issues.

Hi Dan!
I had the LEDs installed at SpyderFest...

They throw a LOT more light down the road now!
My eyeballs, are two happy campers now! :2thumbs:
