• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I received the skid plate yesterday and installed it today. It went without a problem! Great Product!

What is the benefit of this skid plate?

SpyderPops skid plate is more robust than the original.

This is what my original skid plate looked like...

I like that...my skid plate looks almost as bad as yours. Let me know how it works out for you.

Have had it on since the spyder arrived this past May. It protects the bottom under your Frunk, as the Spyder sits pretty low with the original shocks.:yes:

Wonder if it will slide under the RT if it has Spyderpop Cat shields installed? I have a cheap version from Sears (Chinese) that won't go under mine with the Cat shields.

I couldn't tell you. I do not know what that shield looks like. I do know you can go under either side. I would think if you go from the opposite side you would miss it but then again, I don't know that shield!

Maybe

My Harbour Freight special from over the summer, just makes it with the Spyder Pops plastic hanging down for the CAT heat problem. If it were any closer, like 1/4 inch, it wouldn't work without "adjusting" the SPops plastic on each side. I do have the BumpSkid thingy as well as Elkas, they may make a difference

I have used the bump skid, and can attest to its functionality. Its worth every penny.

Im anxiously awaiting the new belt guard for my RT,... Harvey, are you listening? ;)

Jack

Spyderpops put my bump plate on at Lamonster's BBQ, he used a aluminum floor jack that he said he got from Sears (Craftsman), it was a great looking jack, and it seems to work well for him. You might try to contact him via his Vendor site, I'm sure he'd be able to help with the particulars on the jack. I've already put the bump plate to use twice, very worthwhile addition to our Spyders. Also need to mention his jack had a very wide lift platform, excellent for any bike.

Noe that I installed the RT BumpSkid I rode 460 miles this weekend over Sat and Sun and I noticed something. The ambient outside temp gauge nows is way off! It consistently reads 10+ high. On return yesterday, It read 81 and it was actually 68. Has anyone else noticed this? Where is the temp reader and is it hard to move it to a better position?

Please don't post the same message on three different post, it makes it hard to follow. One post is fine. I deleted the one on the general board.

As far as temps go it really shouldn't matter seeing the sensor is nowhere near there.

Every Spyder ever made, especially the RT's, will build up heat under the bodywork and read hotter than ambient. +4-8 degrees is typical. In the sun, or after parking and restarting, the difference can be huge! I expect 10-20 degrees above ambient when I come out of a store in the summer. This comes down very slowly, due to minimal venting of the trapped air in the bodywork, and due to the programming of the Spyder. Trapped heat can also raise the reading during stop-n-go traffic. I suspect your Spyder always did this, but you didn't notice until now. I have seen little or no difference since adding the BumpSkid. Moving the sensor is difficult, since it also is a pressure sensor whose readings are used in fuel and engine management. It cannot be mounted in a direct air stream because that would adversely affect the pressure sensor. The length of the extension harness is also critical. Changes in the harness to accomodate a move, can cause erroneous readings.

The best way to check if your AAPTS is working correctly is to compare to the ambient in your garage before you start the Spyder in the morning. If it is still way off, you should see your dealer.

Now I know for sure, I have over 8,000 miles, that the temp was always never more than 4 or 5 degrees higher. I rode Sat morning to a club breakfast when it was 43 degrees out and it read 68 degrees all the way there (about 15 miles). I know the readings have changed since I put on the Bumpskid, so that said, does anyone out there know where the sensor is located?
