Installed Bajron's Sway Bar today.

A friend and I installed the sway bar today. This bar replaces the OEM bar. It is slightly larger in diameter and heavier that the OEM. The new fittings were of a much better quality then the OEM. Installation went well, it took about two hours including a couple of coffee breaks. I did not get to ride much after the install, but the 50 miles I did ride shows this improves the handling and the ride in the curves. I did not go into the real twisties but will on my Saturday ride with my group when we take the long way to Kerrville for BBQ lunch. More later. Good work, Ron.

This Saturday we will go to Buzzies BBQ. My group, the Hill Country Road Riders go to breakfast or lunch somewhere each Saturday. There are several great places to eat in Kerrville. Our group, mostly older, long time riders (I started in 1948) with the youngest around 50 or so and the oldest (today, ha ha) is 84. We put out a monthly "event schedule" and we meet, ride and eat...we basically ride 12/365 with our good WX. Rain and cooler WX slows us down sometimes, but we always have someone or two who ride...we have few rules and it works well. We publish the route each week and it can be downloaded to a Garmin.

There are some great roads and places to eat in this area. Later send me your email and what you are looking for, ride wise, and maybe I can give you some ideas.

George, did you do the underneath install yourself? i have "The Bar" and am waiting for warmer wx to attempt the work but am a bit intimidated about the physical level necessary; I'm in your age group and getting creeky in the knees and such. :)

I had the bar installed yesterday. I already have the Elka shocks, but figured the bar would make the handling even better.
Boy, was I wrong. Even better is really "a great improvement" in comfort as well as stability on the interstate and especially our great "back roads" here in N. GA. I was more than impressed. I'm an older guy who pretty much adheres to the speed limit plus 10 concept, so I'm still not going to do "the dragon" in 9 minutes, but I'm delighted with Ron's products that I've purchased, and all the vendors, for that matter - great bunch of folks to deal with.
WX is going to be a factor this weekend, so I'll wait a day or 2 for the next "acceptance flight."

Tuck, your words describe my feelings to a "T". I had the bar installed by my dealer this morning; my knees and back wasn't up to the task and it was worth the one hour labor charge. I felt the diff the minute I pulled out of the bay. I too, have Elkas but am thinking one might well not need them with the Bar.

Flyer, my friend has a regular auto lift in his barn and he also converted it to handle Gold Wing trikes. We put the front wheels on the lift and brought it up about 30 inches (strapped down with brake on) and he did most of the work...I don't do well with my Korean War knee so I handed him tools and read the instructions as we went along. It went very well.

When we change the oil and filter on my Wing, we drive it up on his lift and raise it six feet...walk under it and tighten all the nuts, etc....great system he has and loves to work on scoots....he charged me $120 to install the sway bar...well worth it to me as I don't have the proper equipment and can't bend right knee much....he charges me $12 to change my own oil and filter. We check all nuts, etc and his wife gives me coffee and cake while I cheer him on....a bargain for me. He also does CSC Gold Wing conversions....does great work.

you guys have gotten me thinking bout the sway bar for my 2010 now. I have 2011 shocks on it and did feel an improvement with those. I have never really thought I needed anything else as I am not an agressive rider but maybe I am missing out on something. Hmmmm.

post update: Not missing out on anything anymore! Got Ron's bar, put it on and WOW! Yep, it does make a big difference! Thanks Ron.

Installed BajaRon's swaybar on both of my RT's yesterday. If you follow the directions that were given you should do just fine. One very helpful hint is to position the new ring collar on the new swaybar in the exact position as the old oem swaybar. That takes ALL the guess work out of it.

how smart is Ron

I installed the sway bar just now took 2 1/2 hours being careful and going slow and not being a merchanic I put the front wheels up on 4x6 and can fit under the bike enough to work on it but I,am amazed on the difference I took it for a 1/2 mile ride and can tell the difference on the first curve now How the heck did Ron know how to remedy the sway problem with such a easy fix are you a magician or a Brain and hope you make millions off another lack of quality problem BRP provides on their bike after all Brp could have done this for maybe a additional cost of $10 per bike with the equimpment they have so thanks for the sway bar looks like its a remedy to a problem now fixed thanks Ron your a great Business Man and this is well worth the price you charge Rich

Best $200 I ever spent

The BajaRon sway bar kit was the best $200 I've spent on any bike... It's a new machine now.

They say 'Luck beats skill every time'. They are right.... :ohyea:

Glad you like the Bar!

Would this be beneficial on the 2013 RT? In my opinion it handles pretty good but this is however my first spyder.. If it could be better I could not imagine but would like to know what better is like..

Where do I purchase it? Does it void any warranty?

Don't know about the 2013- but I hope it will work, since my brother just got a 2013 RT.

Just got the bar on my 2012 RT and could tell the difference turning the first corner on my street. The bike feels alot "tighter" now and finding it unnecessary to lean close to inside tire in the curves. But that will be a hard habit to break from my 2 wheel days! I have dialed up the front shocks on the RT and with the bar, she feels pretty good now!

It was alot more hassle just getting the bar than anything else. Paypal is a nightmare. I spent 2 hrs online trying to convince it to let me bill to one address and ship to another. This simple procedure apparently was far beyond the intellectual capacity of Paypal, so ended up just giving up. Snail mail to Ron was also slow and insecure. Luckily Spyderpops had the bar and they were able to accomodate easily with one phone call. Everything I have bought from Spyderpops has been easy to do!

The suspension has been changed on the 2013's . I am sure BaJaRon is looking into it. Ron can chime in and clarify this. He has a great product for those of us who have the 2010's '11's and 12's. I feel like my '10 is a new machine after changing the sway bar. (the 2010's have week shocks as well and that made the issue a little more prominate). I upgraded the shocks to 2011's and Ron's bar topped it off  Going into a curve now is a different experience. You point it, it turns and squats. No more excessive leaning! I love it. I felt like you, it was good but I had nothing to compare it to, but now better IS better! I salute you BaJa Ron

George, owning both the Spyder and the trike conversion, do you feel like the handling (turning under power etc.) is more sure footed with the spyder? I love the Goldwing conversions, when I tried one out I felt like the rear wheels had a tendency to overpower the single smaller front wheel. It could have been the make of conversion on the one I drove. Don't take it wrong, the Goldwings are fantastic and set the standard for regular trikes. Nothing else can compare. I felt safer on the Spyder with the engineered safety components with the wheels in the front design.
Also I had noticed "cupping" of the front tires on a couple of conversions that I looked at. But again, that may not be typical.
