Installation of LaMonster Highway Brackets...

Today I received my LaMonster FBB Highway Brackets. There were no instructions in the box (But there was a complimentary can of Black Diamond Detailer, thank you Lamont). I've been trying to piece this together to figure out how to install it. From the photos on his site, it appears that I have to drill holes from the bottom of the floorboards. My drill is too big to fit under there, so I am faced with the choice of removing the floorboards (instructions needed), or jacking up the Spyder high enough to get under there to drill the holes.

Question for those who have installed these: Did you remove the floorboards or jack it up? I saw on one of the reviews someone said they "in stalled in 40 mints" (sic). Assuming he meant 40 minutes, I'd like to know how.

you do not need to remove the floor boards, what i did was to hold the bracket under each board where it belongs, than with a pencil i drew a line from above around the floor board onto the bracket where it belongs. than following the curved line i held the bracket on top of the board and lined up the lines where it belongs and from the top using the pencil through the holes in the bracket, i marked out the holes, then i just drilled from top to bottom. don't forget to pull the rubber pad out of the boards

Worked out great. I got one side finished. Gonna do the other side in the morning when it's cooler. It won't take me as long now that I know what I'm doing.

I made the mistake of drilling the holes with a 1/4 inch bit, and the bolts wouldn't fit through them. I had to ream the holes to get the bolts through. I'll use a 3/8 inch bit on the other side.

Sure would be nice if this came with a template so you can easily drill the holes from above. Instructions would be nice too.

your welcome and i always use a smaller bit to start a hole so the larger bit doesn't walk on you when drilling. glad it worked out

Oh, I forgot to mention, I used a center punch instead of a pencil to mark the holes for drilling. The bit fit right into the indentation that I made and didn't dance at all.

Just Did Mine

Hi I just finished installing mine today! It was an easy install. I did have to jack mine up a little so my right angle drill fit under. Followed the instructions that are on Lamont's site. I will be posting picks of all my recent Farkles soon! I like you did it in the hot weather and lost a couple of pounds from sweating LOL. Glad you had success installing yours!

I did the other side this morning, this time jacking up the Spyder and drilling small pilot holes from underneath, then drilling the finishing holes from above. This really is a pretty easy install, once you figure out how to do it. Now that I know how, I could probably knock off this job in about 30 minutes.

Question: Should I have used locktite on the bolts underneath the footboard pads?

This is a great product. I really like these highway pegs, now that they are installed. I will definately buy products from LaMonster in the future. :2thumbs:

:congrats: So far...
I would certainly suggest using Loc-Tite on those bolts; you wouldn't want them loosening up! :shocked:
