• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Install: Digital Voltmeter

Nice job, I did the same install a year ago from Finless Bob. BTW my guage over time has lost .5 volts according to a meter reading on the battery. This is a nice change and simple to do and give you better instrumentation. Looks good and nice video, thanks.

Nice, My gauge is still sitting on the toolbox, also have not figured out what to put in the other opening.:dontknow:

I just left the disabled fuel gauge in the left opening after I installed my Voltmeter in the right one. I topped off the tank before unplugging it so it's stuck on full. I'm just leaving it there until I decide what to put in its place.

Go ahead and install your volt meter. Just leave the gas gauge there inactive. As soon as I pulled the power my needle dropped all the way down unlike Pam's. It took me a year to finally put something there. For now I am using it as a place to mount the GPS I bought to replace the one I lost. I have seen some that mounted USB plugs there or power sockets. I thought of an altimeter but couldn't find one I liked.

A Clock

Along with the volt meter I bought the Water Temp Gauge ( no I don't now why, thought about getting underbody readings from it.) However today I found the perfect gauge, a Digital clock, ordered it and should be here in Friday.:yes:

This item has perimeter lights that countdown the seconds.

By the way, my fuel gauge also maintained the volume setting after disconnecting.

Nice clock! Let us know how the install goes. I may want that myself.

All Installed

Clock came this morning, 3 day delivery, not bad.
Clock has 4 wires
Black - Ground
Red - Switched Positive
Yellow - Continuous Positive
Orange - Dimmer

Clock will not work unless yellow is connected and to set clock, set button is on the back. Instructions say it is 12/24 hours however have not found the 24 hour setting (yet)

I connected the ground to existing ground from old Gauge and connected the red and orange to existing connection for old gauge light. Since I needed continuous power for the clock I ran a yellow from the Battery and connected the Volt Meter to the same wire as the clock.

Sort video of the clock cycle.

voltmeter and power sourse hook up

Hi all, This mod was inspired by Finless Bob and JT.

Was thinking of installing digital voltmeter and cigarette lighter power adaptor on the dash. Since you tapped into the existing harness used for the fuel and temp gauge did you had any issues with the computer because it is recognizing different components or any other electrical problems?Thanks..

On my 16 RTS there are deutsch connectors on the guage. can i after looking a a wire diagram assume and i hate that word
that or w/rd = +
and bk w/vt = -
and the 3rd color in each connector is the fuel and temp sensor?

Thanks, still not sure which wires to connect. I checked with a multi-meter and found that the triple connector wires are Ground for Black, 12v+ for the Orange and 6v+ for the Blue. The additional Orange that has a bayonet connector is also 12v. All are powered by the ignition switch. My concern isn't as much about just connecting power and ground but concerned about any issues that may cause the computer to read a fault and or cause a failure. Has anyone had any issues after hooking up an accessory in this manner?

Usb Power where Fuel Guage is

I would like to know how I can get usb power in place of the fuel gauge. I have seen it in several photos but cant find where to purchase it.

My ignorance

Hi all, This mod was inspired by Finless Bob and JT.

I have seen several posts regarding disconnecting the fuel gage. One implied a second digital fuel gage that shows up when the analog gage is disconnected. Is this correct. If so please tell me more, as replacing the fuel gage with a weather proof USB would be great.
