Review: Install and first impression for Lidlox (helmet handlebar lock)

I installed the Lidlox on my left handle bar; (22F3S) it took about 10 minutes and was very easy to do. My helmet locks to the handlebar with the T Bar going through the slide on the helmet where the chin strap ratchet is inserted to hold your helmet in place when riding. It is supplied with the kit.

Unless you are a real detail type of person you will not even notice the Lidlox addition. The reason I needed a helmet handlebar lock is because my LS2 Modular helmet does not fit in the frunk or either of the Shad bags. I leave my Shad bags in the garage unless I plan an overnight trip where I need the extra storage.

The Lidlox kit looks like it will deter the "grab and run person" and makes me feel that it is safer than tucking the helmet between the handlebars and the windshield when stopping for lunch etc. When stopping overnight the helmet goes into the room with me.

I like mine. Things to remember:

• yellow jackets and hornets can get into your helmet unnoticed while you're away, make sure to check;
• while the helmet is hanging upside down, it becomes a convenient trash can for some people; and
• be careful when you unlock them, it's easy to drop your helmet while fiddling with the lock, helmet holder, and helmet.

Other than all that, I use mine all the time.

I did both sides since the wife rides with me most of the time. I do not need the 't' for our helmets as the eyelet is big enough to attach directly to the lidlox

The lidlox is a great accessory, especially for the F3S with very limited storage. I also keep a light weight helmet bag to slip over the helmet if I'm leaving the bike for an extended period of time. This keeps the critters and occasional showers out. It also keeps "admiring" eyes from checking out my helmet.

Good idea about the helmet cover. They don't take up any space really. My problem is that I'm always in a hurry to shed my gear, lock my helmet and making sure I have my keys, wallet and whatever else I need while I'm away from rhe bike.
Since I have to remove my helmet when stored from its cover anyway, I will start using it as you recommended. Thanks

My wife read this and now I'm not allowed to add this to her Ryker.... lol

I wish my helmet would fit in the frunk... that's all I would need. It's just a little too shallow to fit my Scorpion. If I had ability to scan and injection mold, I would redesign a few parts to make a drop-in replacement...

Aside from that, I often wondered why they can't find a way to install a standard helmet lock like my motorcycle has (Z900) on the side somewhere. I'm not a fan of the swinging 'anchor' mounts many are selling. I'd always be hitting it.

The rain thing is what got us a couple times on another bike. So I made a 1/4" cable long enough to go thru helmets and around a frame rail somewhere. I used a disk brake lock I carried for night time thru the loops on cable. Then we stood the helmets up on seat so as to not catch rain. But really like putting in trunk.

My helmet doesn't fit anywhere on my Spyder, so Lidlox works for me.

On a side note, while riding in So-Cal many moons ago, I had a bug fly into my helmet. Not thinking, I pushed against the back of my helmet because the bug was moving around, and I smashed it. Only to find out it was a yellow jacket that stung me. You should have seen my exit to the shoulder of the highway. I'm sure the people in cars around me got a kick out of that. I was taking that helmet off as fast as I could and grabbing at the back of my stinging head trying to pull the yellow jacket off my skull. Not fun at all.

I've never had that happen again, but I always check my helmet for insects before donning it.
