• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Inspecting Air Filter

I have both front panels off as well as the body part over the air filter in preperation to install the bracket for a tank bag. While I had everything open, I wanted to check my airbox for oil residue. I undid all the clips, wiped the blood off of my knuckle, and then tried to get the cover to silde out, but there does not seem to be enough clearance. I am missing something?

It comes out to the right with a little finagling (click for the definition). Are you sure all of the clips are unlatched? There's a couple which can hide from you. Up and out.

As above. Had mine off a few months ago to have a look around. It required some serious wrestling to get out. Just make sure all the clips are released first. Slightly easier going back together.

Sounds like every basic job on this machine. Thanks. I was wondering if I needed to get the hacksaw out! I will keep finagling :banghead:

Up and over. Check clips! A little force may be required when you are absolutely sure all clips are undone.

And, finagling fits this to a tee!

I finagled (past tense) with mine for about an hour with NO LUCK!! I can gain access enough to swap out the filter when the time comes, But as far as fully removing the panel, I was not able to achieve this goal..

You need to take off the hose on the right side that goes up under the dash - just move the clamp back and pull hose off box top. Then you need to lift and pull out the right side of the bike.

We found that if we slid a thin piece of sheet metal (about 4"x6") inside the lid between the lid and the throttle body top the lid slid off much easier.

After releasing all the clips (be sure to get the ones hidden in the front) and removing the hose you can get the lid to slide to the right enough to slide the sheet metal in.

Once the sheet metal is in place you can pull the lid from the right side and it rides up over the tight spot (throttle body) more easily.

Hope this helps.

It's definitely worth looking at...the stock filters leak around the edges. It's such a flimsy filter and the pillars mounted to the top of the cover don't press down on it adequately. I found my airbox full of sand on the clean filtered side and you could see where the little jets of air were bypassing the filter around the "sealed edge". I really suggest the Kens race filter, it's got a rigid sidewall and fits more snug. If you don't get one, clean off the filter box and edge of the filter so no oil exists and use some adhesive and set a book on it while it dries. I used 3M 77 spray glue...worked great until Ken arrived.
