Input requested PLEASE on roadside assistance programs...

Trying to compare AAA Premier RV (which I have and no complaints) to Good Sam Platinum RV roadside assistance. (which has been recommended). I have no experience with Good Sam. Everything I read looks like a better roadside assistance plan than AAA. AAA gives me 4 services any combination. And there tow is limited to 200 miles.
Good Sam has unlimited tow mileage and times (they do have a 100 mile limit if I want it taken other than to an approved Spyder repair facility). Plus Good Sam is cheaper. BUT cheaper is not always better.
So experts give me your experiences...particularly looking for input on Good Sam's program.
Dang snow came back...but I got 2 days of Wind Therapy and Spring is coming SOON. PLUS Len at Pitbull Powersports tells me my new '14 and matching trailer are slated for delivery Mid-March...(of course then I will have to wait an call Len at least 4x daily!!) until I get to Spyderfest...Oh the things a girl goes through to have her toys!!!!! I LUV IT....:yes::yes:

The biggest problem with AAA is that it is a consortium of smaller organizations in various parts of the country and they all administer the plan differently. Some even do not honor RV or motorcycle coverage at all. Many are not at all equipped to deal with larger equipment, trailers or motorcycles.

I have had Good Sam coverage (was Camping World for many years) for better than 15 years. They have responded well to several RV calls and auto/truck calls. Each time sending the requested help. Like all services, there are also reports of times they got it wrong. Usually boils down to a communications issue between an owner that does not know what they need and a dispatcher that does not understand the situation. GS does not pay for repairs, and that includes mounting and balancing of tires. They send tow trucks and they can change tires, help with lock outs or out of gas. Otherwise they tow to an authorized repair facility. If you are on the bike, just make sure they know you need a flatbed wrecker, not a hook.

The one time they did tow my motorhome, they sent the correct, very large equipment. The bill was well over $1000. They covered it completely and direct to the provider. I just signed the ticket.

I use my goldwing plus for the Spyder. They will pick it up and take it to closes dealer? Well one trip was 800 miles and only charged me 25.00 not bad. That's $25.00 per year for the towing plan.

I have AAA RV and have used it a couple of times with great results. I have not done any towing (and hope not to) but I also have towing covered on my motorcycle insurance.
So I should have it all cover in case something happens.

good sam covers any vehicle you are driving does'nt have to be yours.Also 20 0/0 discount at many motels

This is included in a 3 year membership which costs $145. Covers automobiles, motorcycles, motorhomes (RVs) and non commercial trailers. Towing services for mechanical issues not accident related covered up to 35 miles to nearest qualified service facility (or to any other location requested by member of equal distance at no expense to the member). If over 35 miles the member is responsible for the overages incurred after the 35 mile coverage. Limits of Service: Only one service call for the same service type within seven days. Example: one tow per seven days, one lockout per seven days, one jumpstart per seven days etc. A member can have more than one service call in a seven day period but cannot be the same service. I have Coach-Net (competitor of Good Sam) gets good reviews on RV forums and they cover all your vehicles and trailers. I also have AMA coverage with the membership and my Progressive Insurance has roadside assist also. However, the one time that I have needed roadside assistance on a bike (before Coach-Net) AMA and Progressive were useless. I had a blow-out in the middle of nowhere about 12 miles north of the NC border on I85 in Virginia. It was about 2 PM on a Saturday and the bike I was riding I had just traded for and didn't have the title, so my name wasn't on the insurance. Progressive wouldn't help me at all. AMA was willing to talk to me, but were useless because they wanted me to tell them where I should be towed to. I had no idea what shops were available in the area. Fortunately my wife got on the internet at home and located a shop about 30 miles away in NC and the owner came out and rescued me.

I have AAA RV. Haven't used it yet but Hubby has.
We were out on a day ride on the back roads when Hubby ran over a pair of big silver scissors. :hun:
It slashed the crap out of his rear tire and was starting on the rim when he pulled it out.

He/we limped to a nearby school and called AAA. Even though he is not listed on the card, they still towed his bike because he was part of my family. No charge.

I have Good Sam and have used them and I could not be happier. I blew a brake line on my crew cab dually with a fully loaded 44 foot toyhauler behind me outside of Nashville on the 4th of July. Made the call to Good Sam and spoke with a friendly, very helpful lady (I think she was in Texas). Explained what had
happened and that I needed a tow and hopefully a place that could fix the brake line. She contacted a towing company that was going to send two trucks...one for my truck and one for the trailer. She had also contacted a repair facility that said if we could get it there they would fix it. She called me back within minutes and confirmed all the arrangements that had been made. She then said that she would call back in 45 minutes to confirm that help had arrived. After 45 minutes had passed, not 46, but 45 minutes, she called and I advised that the tow had not arrived. She called the towing company, got an update and called me back immediately to advise that he tow would be there in minutes. The tow arrived about 2 minutes later. She then called back again and confirmed that I was in good shape. The tow they dispatched was more than capable (semi sized truck) and hauled my entire rig into downtown Nashville to a repair facility. A few hours later, the repairs were made and I was on my way. I didn't have to do anything but sign a slip for the tow driver.

Being in law enforcement and having called AAA for many people over the years, I have never been impressed. Good Sam is the best for the money and I don't know how you could do any better.

:clap:I have the AMA in addition to my BRP and Normal Insurance because it also covers my car and Jet Ski Trailer as well as the Spyder for 35 Miles . Its $50 a year and a Great Second option If stuck!!
