• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Been ryding a 2012 RT Limited for the last 5 years. About ready to pull the trigger on a 2016 F3 Limited. Adding the top case/passenger backrest. Wondering how many have already changed configuration like this & what their thoughts are. Only do a couple overnight trips a year but now that I'm retired....who knows? 75% just me....25% the wife is on the back with me. Keeping my RT-622 trailer & having a new hitch/wiring installed.

Is the new driving position more comfortable? How long until you get used to the wind in your face? Gas mileage?

Any help you can give would be appreciated..........

Gas mileage - 1330 trumps the twin
Wind in face - lots of windscreen choices - tall ones aftermarket
Seating position - use the u-fit to set it up right for you - it's only better if you find it better...
Personally I love my f3, note tho I had an Rs, then st, not an rt.

We have a 2016 F3L and only ride 1 up. I got a luggage rack and a generic top case for trips. The riding position is much more comfortable to me coming from the RT.

The seating position is different from the RT. For me it's better, but that's a personal preference you'll have to decide.

I think you'll love the new machine. Don't forget to post a pic!

I just went from a 2014 RT to a 2016 F3T. I will say that for touring, nothing beats the RT. But 95-99% of my riding is solo, and I am an aggressive, tall, and big (6'-2, 250 lb(woho, I lost 10 pounds). So the choice of switching was a no brainer. I do miss some of the storage (but not as much as I thought I would), but there are other things that you will not have on the F3Limited. One that I missed was the adjustable windshield. I loved being able to have it up whenever the wife rode, or in cold weather; and down when riding in warm weather and alone. Overall, I am happy with my choice.
Now, since you have a 2012 (with the V-Twin), I think that might be your biggest upgrade. I say ride both the RT and the F3 Limited, and do a comparison. Let your body and mind make the decision for you and don't fall prey to the thoughts of anyone else.
BTW, I took my wife out on the F3T for the first time this past Sunday. She is glad that I am happy with the bike, but she is not nearly as comfortable on this as the RT. And that is coming from a rather small woman that is only 5'-1". As for space, she has nearly the same (or more) space, since the RT had a drivers backrest, and the F3T doesn't (I get to lean against her ;)). I have the smooth spyder backrest which gives her plenty of adjustable room. She is in good shape, so riding is not an issue for her, but if we did it often, I would have kept the RT.

Don't know. ..!!

I think the most noticeable difference will be in the performance. The new engine, clutch and transmission seems to be what everyone on one likes and praises. The comfort is a personal thing and though you can change the leg position you cannot change the seating so comfort will be subject to a strong healthy back and firm butt. Storage and accessories is manageable with all the aftermarket products available. If you have not tested one you should it will help with your decision. You can still get the advantages of the frame and power plant on the new RT and keep the comfort the same as you have had the last 5 years...

Going from a 998 to a 1330 is a plus IMO. Whether or not to stick with an RT or make the move to an F3 is the +$30K question now.

I admit, I favor the RT because the F3 does not feel right for me. When it was a choice between the 2010 RT Premier or the new HD triglide, the RT won hands down. I never could get past the test sit on the HD. It did not feel right, the ergos and the clutch pressure were just not right for ME. When they started it up--I was done and gone.

RT vs. F3: I also could not get past the F3 test sit--even with the U-fit adjusted for me. If you compare add-ons and final prices IMO--the F3 is less for more. F3 Looks beat the RT hands down.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooo. Bottom line. It's all about what you like. An extra $2K or so for a trunk used once a year--if it were me--I would not. I like the RoadKing look, as in no trunk.

Let us know what you do.

Thanks to all

Thanks to everyone who chimed in. Looks like I'll be posting a new picture in a few days. I hope it's all I think it'll be!!
