• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Increasing daytime visibility

One of the most useful safety gadgets, if only someone could build one, would be a remote control that could switch off all handheld mobile phones within a radius of 200 metres or so. You get an instant fine if caught, but its definitely not unusual to see drivers checking or entering text messages, or driving with one hand while talking on the phone. No wonder they don't see you.

I always ride with a hi-viz vest or suit and a white helmet. Although the vest is less visible from the rear due to the permanently mounted top case on the Limited, so perhaps I should mount some extra lights on the back.

Be Seen!

Could anyone suggest what farkles would be best to get first for my new (to me) RT? My main priority is to increase visibility, daytime as well as night. The bike is black and my last one got wrecked by a driver who didn't see me, so I'm feeling particularly paranoid. Would the Spyderpops daytime running lights or a lighted bumpskid be a better choice, or something else? Or maybe a dayglo jacket? I can only afford one or two farkles at a time and want to get the most for my money.:helpsmilie:

The biggest highest object with lot's of surface area is you! A high reflective jacket will give the biggest increase in visibility. I get comments all the time from other riders and drivers that they see me in my bright chartreuse jacket long before they see the :f_spider:. I ride year round day and night, rain or shine and I insist on doing all that I can to be seen. There are many jackets on the market with high reflective panels and bright colors. Chartreuse or Yellow have the best contrast against a variety of backgrounds and lighting conditions. White is nearly invisible against snow and red becomes black under some street lighting. And the best defense is to always remember that you are invisible to most cage drivers, you would not believe how many drivers will pull out in front of a Fire Engine that has it's flashers on. :yikes::yikes:

I've ridden on the cape many times. That traffic at rush hour, or Friday nights, is fast and furious, to say the least. Here's where the defensive driving is essential to surviving. Even when you're in a car it's hairy, so on a bike scarey. A few times I was heading there at dusk, a time when lights seem to get obsorbed into the road, and getting to my destination at the canal was a feat, not for the slight of heart.

I am like JoAnn too many Farkles too fast is too expensive.
So I've added thin reflective tape to my helmet and the bike.

The only time I ever got hit on a motorcycle I was 10 minutes from home and wearing a high-visibility bright yellow aerostich jacket and hi vis helmet. The driver said she still didn't see me and I was directly in front of her. My current RT is bright yellow. If you can't see that you shouldn't be driving LOL.:)

That'd definitely be visible!

For some reason I am reminded of a story that a fellow student told me in grad school, about his previous lab. It was back in the days before regulatory requirements made it hardly worth the bother to do any work with radioactivity, but there were still some rules. Anyway, they managed to convince some poor intern that when working with P-32 he was required to wear this toy fireman's helmet with a light that went round and round on top...nojoke

Nice! Could you tell me the advantage of the two different lights on the fenders?
The advantage of having the two different lights on the fenders is, people can see the width and that you have 2 wheels in the front of your spyder.

Also, people can see the side/and the length of your spyder in the dark. Deanna

I meant, why two different pairs? Wouldn't one pair do for showing where the sides are? I was wondering if maybe one set worked as turn signals or something. Sorry if I'm just confused.

Sorry, the other set(Red) is just a running light, I think you could have the other set( red) as turn signals.

Does this help???

On the back of my spyder I do have the LED's as turn signals/ running/braking. Deanna

My Christmas gift to me

I purchased the safety LED super package (red and yellow fender lights w/blinker, saddlebag light) from tricled for my F3 plus the rear center run and brake LED.

I am excited to get these installed.

That looks really nice. I was having trouble finding a good description on their site of the other lights in the super package besides the fender ones. If there on the saddlebags that would be good.

TricLED Super Safety Bundle With Blinkers

What is pictured above on the F3s is also available for the RTs. It'll set you back about $400.00, not including the install. I also have a Custom Dynamics High Mounted Run, Brake, Turn Signal Unit, a Spyderpops Lighted Bumpskid, and TricLED top rear view mirror mounted led then signalled strips.YES, I spent a bundle of money for taking our Spyder more visible. I wear a yellow jacket. My wife changed to a ladiesblack/turquoise fashion jacket, so I'll be looking for a hi-vis vest for her in April.
