Hubby and I just returned from our first long ride (5 days) since I bought the RT. I now have plenty of experience in the twisties and on the interstate and I really enjoyed the Spyder. It's not the same as the Harley I traded for it but it is equally as fun! And it is more practical, which I appreciate. I rode in the rain without fear and all of our luggage stayed dry. I carried most of our gear without problems and my gas mileage was more than adequate. I discovered that the handlebars are a bit 'buzzy'. After 5 hours of riding my hands began to feel a 'needles and pins' sensation. I had to buy some gel padded gloves to get relief. My right side saddlebag did not open every time I pulled the lever. At times I had to put a little weight against it so it would open. And most odd - there is a roughness/vibration at about 73 mph that goes away at higher or lower speeds. I'll have that checked out. I saw only 3 spyders in more than 1300 miles. I did see a lot of interest in the bike! Little kids went wild. Men and women wanted to sit on the bike and have their pictures made with it. Everyone was respectful, admiring and a lot of fun to meet. I was asked most often: who makes that bike, what kind of gas mileage does it get, which wheel pulls, how well does it corner? I had a ball but my husband finally had enough and said yesterday as yet another person approached, "hurry, let's go before we have to talk again!" I can't wait for our next road trip.
