• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. In The Press

Guess they haven't seen too many crotch rockets, either!

Had a co-worker pullup a T-Rex on the computer saying "this is what you should have bought"..... after saying that my Spyder was not a motorcycle, he called the T-Rex a motorcycle ..and I do not think of the T-Rex as a motorcycle (you sit "in it not on it" and it has a steering wheel).

it's the craziest thing I've ever seen and I don't know why (unless it's 3rd wheel envy:ohyea:)

California - Spyder is a motorcycle.

The California Motorcycle Handbook states; “A motorcycle: Has a seat or saddle for the rider and a designed to travel on not more than three wheels” Under License Requirements there is a note that states “Class C licensees may operate a motorcycle with a side care attached or a three-wheel motorcycle”

So in California a Spyder is licensed as a motorcycle but you can drive it without a motorcycle endorsement.:2thumbs:

I've heard "it's not a Harley"...well duh!

I was pulled by the police the other day just so they could check it out, "is this thing even street legal", after my heart rate slowed, that was pretty cool.

The one I like best so far... "That's not a motorcycle, you can't even see the motor"

Who cares if it's a motorcycle (North Carolina considers it a motorcycle) or Magic Carpet. I consider my Spyder a SAV (Super Awesome Vehicle):2thumbs:

Glad to hear that I am not the only one who has been pulled over just so the officer could take a look at it and ask questions. I had another one do a u-turn and come up behind us while we were parked at the county courthouse. He was very curious about them and said he was actually thinking about getting one, but wanted to talk to someone who already had one before making his decision. No tickets so far. :D

"It looks like an alright ride, BUT its Not a Harley!!":hun:
This is what some guy told me at a shopping center when he came over to chat?? He must have said it twice during the short conversation ands lets just say he drove off in his car and I DIDN,T get put in JAIL!! :gaah:LOL
The engine is used by Harley in there buell motorcycles plus HD finance them to

I was on my RS the other day and this guy with half his teeth missing said "that's so ugly it's cute". Then he said "If I had one I would kill myself". I thought (one could only hope). Is that wrong? :D
AAAAAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA Good one Lamont

Cycle World write up

Page 15 of March issue, decent write up. The last two sentences say a lot..."After a couple hundred miles, my conclusion was that, if Honda made a three-wheeled Gold Wing, it couldn't be any slicker than the Can-Am RT-S. Seems like Can-Am hit its target."

john

I saw it

Current edition of Rider magazine also has an article about the RT-S. I've yet to get a copy though. Has anybody seen that article?

Glynnk

I read it...from what I can tell it wasn't as positive and upbeat about the RT as the other magazine. It discussed issues with the trunk shutting, the odd shape/sizes of the trunks, and several other negative aspects though it talked about positive things as well, maybe it was more balanced than the other magazine. I slept since I read it, so I'd have to re-read it to put anymore about it on here.

Both of the views were about the prototype RT-S also. There's been some fine tuning since then.

It just seems like the vehicle should be labeled and recognized as the same no matter what state you travel. It's just another reason for an officer to pull you over in a state your visiting or just passing through because in that state it's a violation.

Article On Spyder RT

I read an article in Wing World and Trikes that was written by some Wingers who test drove the proto type. The greatest part of the 4 page article was positive although there were a few negitive things in it. The only negitive remark that even concerned me was their concern with the 998cc engine. It didn't concern me enough to keep me from ordering mine but I would like to hear from some of you who have put some mile on yours. Is it really an issue?

This is my first Spyder and I am happy with the power and performance. I have 800 miles on mine now and I've enjoyed every mile I've put on her. I can say without question, it's quicker than my Suzuki C90 was. I'm pleased!

This is my first Spyder and my first Touring, I'm coming from strickly cruisers (Yamaha VStar, HD Night Train & HD Fat Boy). When I decided to move up to tourer I looked at and road basiclly everything out there, including the Vision. Then along came the Spyder RT...so I put my plans on hold and waited for the Demo's. After my test ride I was sold and have not regreted my decission. I'm 175 lb. and with me and the wife there's more power than I can imagine needing. In fact, I'm backing off the throttle quite often, Of cource this has been on flat land, haven't headed into the mountains YET

It was probably the soft shock setting from the factory. If they did not adjust those, then it most likely was soft.
The review claimed the shocks are non-adjustable. Yes, you can adjust spring preload, but that won't affect damping. I'm surprised Öhlins or White Power doesn't make make a set of fully adjustable shocks for the Spyder.

There are some on this forum who have switched to Elka and Penske on their GS models. I wonder if the same shocks would work for the RT? I haven't taken a close look at one yet, so have no idea.

I should be able to tell you real soon. First thing I'm going to do when the RT gets here this week is swap the shocks to the Elka's. :doorag:
