• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

The January/February 2010 issue of Road Runner magazine has a two-page article on the RT. Overall quite complimentary, althought they did say "...this is not a motorcycle." If it "steers like a car," where's the steering wheel? They did say they were impressed, however, and the article was upbeat, overall.

While it may not lean like a motorcycle, in Michigan it is registered as a motorcycle, it is insured as a motorcycle, you need a motorcycle endorsement and you need to wear a helmet. With more safety and more stability maybe it's a More-to-cycle. :D

I know! I have yet to figure out how these self-professed experts figure that a Ural with a sidecar is a motorcycle, a Tri-Glide is a motorcycle, a Hannigan trike conversion is a motorcycle, but a Spyder, complete with handlebars, is no such animal.

To me, a Spyder doesn't NEED to be a motorcycle. It comprises it's own category, and it stands out in the crowd.

:agree: and so does BRP. They have taken pains from the beginning to say the Spyder Roadster is not a motorcycle. As one of the brochures I picked up early on states, "It resides beyond the conventions of motorcycles and automobiles. Comgining the best of two and four-wheeled rides, laced with the thrill of off-road powersports." It is registered as a motorcycle in most jurisdictions because the authorities and insurance companies can't figure out where else to put it. Scotty is right though; it is as much a motorcycle as any sidecar rig. Overall, the Spyder is much more akin to a motorcycle than to any automobile.

Cheers,

Bruce

I was on my RS the other day and this guy with half his teeth missing said "that's so ugly it's cute". Then he said "If I had one I would kill myself". I thought (one could only hope). Is that wrong? :D

Sounds to me like he paid the Spyder a complement. Twice!

what's a stop sign,:dontknow: we just have california rolls out here :trike:

btw, I think this is a perfect time to figure out what to call a RT spyder, I mean we can reinvent a term here. It' is in it's infancy. it's not a trike/bike, it's a "Y"

BRP says a Roadster, some states say a motorcycle..... In CA,. I do not need a motorcycle license, I was told because it has a foot brake rather than a hand brake is the difference in license requirements.

Current edition of Rider magazine also has an article about the RT-S. I've yet to get a copy though. Has anybody seen that article?

I get that magazine i read it but read between the lines
Especially the part about the steering. There not Consumers
Union they get test bikes for free to test. Have to be careful
as to how they really feel, Might not get another free bike to test.

Give me a free Pinto and ill tell you to buy two.

I've heard "it's not a Harley"...well duh!

I was pulled by the police the other day just so they could check it out, "is this thing even street legal", after my heart rate slowed, that was pretty cool.

The one I like best so far... "That's not a motorcycle, you can't even see the motor"

Who cares if it's a motorcycle (North Carolina considers it a motorcycle) or Magic Carpet. I consider my Spyder a SAV (Super Awesome Vehicle):2thumbs:
