• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'm Stunned

Was sitting here looking through the lastest issue of Wing World Magazine and came across a article called "Big Bike Parts' Offerings for the Can- Am Spyder Roadster".
There are scuff pads for the RT saddle bag compartments, a dash pouch for the RT, fender accent trim and a RT cover.

Why am I stunned? This is the Gold Wing Road Riders Association's publication. GWRRA.
Why do I get it? Because I became a member to take their trike riding course. I haven't found a MSF course here in GA, at least not for Spyders.

So I was surprised to see an article for Spyder products in their magazine. Page 56-57.

I will check that out. I currently have the January issue and am waiting for February--guessing that is the one you are referring to. I get Wing World because Linda and I are both "associate" members since we ride with the GW group in Anchorage but do not own GW's.

Thanks for the heads up.

Wing World has a Trike section every month. Spyders come up every now and then. Mine was on the National web site for a while, but do not remember where. I joined GWRRA several years ago, when I rode my ST1100, also a associate member. Many Wing Riders do not care what you ride, but I have met some that worse then HD snobs (not all HD riders are ).

I too am a GWRRA member as we had a 1500 and traded it for a Spyder. You cab take the MSF course along with the Gold Wing people. Others in our club have and said they were very please at the way the Spyder went throught the course.

I've been a member of GWRAA since '94 and I remember a few issues of Wing World that had full page advertisements for the spyder. This offering is in the Trike section of the mag. Dale

I was waiting for the net thingies for the side compartments (I forgot who was making them) but have gone ahead and ordered the nets from them. I wanted them for our 2500 mile trip to spyderfest.

I have a friend who rides a HD trike. He and I have ridden together several times and I find there is mixed reactions from HD riders. Most of the time they don't really look at you, some of the time they make the "training wheels" comment and some of the time you get a good reaction. The way I see it, it doesn't matter what you ride, only that you ride. If I could afford a goldwing, I might have bought one. I only have about 2 years of road experience on a bike, so the size would have been an issue. Still, I have a lot of respect for goldwing riders. It is a nice machine. I have also heard that Americade is a great trip for spyder ryders to take. Again, probably on the list for this year as it is so close. I have to admit though, I have not yet run into any "goldwing snobs". But there always the ten percent right?

Americade is a great event to go to no matter were you are from, it's the largest touring event in the country and I have been going for several years. I have also done spyder rides on wed for the past 4 years but I will not make it this year as I will be in Alaska so I'm hoping Randy picks up slack and takes over this year. You will have a great time and just watch the group section for details.

Folks on GoldWings seem to be pretty darn happy; have you ever passed one on the road without getting a thumbs-up AND a big smile? :D
Americade's the place to be in early June... Circle Lake George on your roadmaps and saddle up!

I got a L.G. publication a few years ago. I was disappointed to find on the last page the quote "if you have loud pipes stay home". Kinda rude & snobby if you ask me.-----Budro

Having loud pipes is kinda rude, too, to everybody within earshot. As a rule of thumb you'll find that the number of decibels emitted exceeds the IQ of the rider by a factor of 2. There's no scientific basis for this claim, just a lifetime of noticing how certain folks (mis)behave. :f_spider:

Your first sentence would have been respected & considered. Then you went on to be judgmental & insulting. I guess that a lifetime of having your head encased in that bubble of fiberglass with your intercom, and stereo goin' has made your IQ exceptional. I can't even imagine how you ever heard any loud pipes with your giant helmet & closed mind.----Budro

Lets all just :chill: . Loud pipes are what some people love. I am not one of those people as I live on the snowmobile trail and not far from a biker bar. I will never put loud pipes on any of my machines. That being said, there are some loud pipe riders who do think about the people around them. I saw a sled go by the house a couple weeks ago with loud pipes. The average non-snowmobiler would never have noticed, because he was cruising slow. I have no problem with considerate riders. Now, the guy who rode past my house at 1:30am getting on and off the throttle just to be loud, I was not real happy about that. People who are not for loud pipes will just have to deal with the noise. People with loud pipes will have to deal with the criticism.
This is not the place to discuss it.

I agree--thanks for the input.-----Budro
