Rob...Bob... If YOU were in the market for a 1911 style .45 shooter, not a show piece, what would your choice be.
Rob...
You have REALLY opened up a HUGE can of worms! :2thumbs:
I'm a big fan of Colt... in spite of all of what they've done wrong. My "Main-Axe" is an eighties series stainless full-size rig. I put a McCormick trigger in it, tightened the slide and bushing, changed the cam link, and even added a titanium firing pin.
It's a "whoop-ass" shooter!
two-inch groups at 50 yards! (with open sights)
Having said all of this:
I still think that Kimber builds some real beauties.
I also had a custom build on a Caspian Frame that was a beauty.
You just can't go wrong with "Ole-Slabsides"!

But this is a "good" can of worms. Lol.
I would love to find a 1911A1 colt, I could afford...
I know a guy who's uncle's and dad worked for Remington during WWII. He claims to have over 300 1911's from that time..most of which were never fired. I've seen several that appeared to be new. Was afraid to ask what he wanted for them..
Go ahead and ASK!! nojoke
You never know what he might do for you!
I had a WWII A-1, that I used for Bullseye competition. That damn thing was still wearing what was left of it's OD green, but it sure could shoot!
WAYYYY better than I could!![]()
