• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'm New - Questions on The Can-Am Spyder

I dont find the spyder close to a snowmobile at all.
It looks visually close, but not in handling terms, snowmobiles require much much more leaning and foot pressure into the running boards when making turns in fluffy snow, and trail riding. The only time a snowmobile would be close to a syder would be on a straight road on hard pack snow or ice. that requires zero effort in steering similar to the spyder.

I do agree however it's more like an atv on mega steroids:yes:

I've never ridden a snowmobile, but I have ridden an ATV. I hear it's very similar to riding either. Maybe someone who rides snowmobiles can comment. I think of the Spyder as a really fast ATV for the street, others compare it to a snowmobile.

A little similar to a atv, I have 4 atv's. At first i felt guilty riding legally on the road, got over that quick'' I allso have 2 snowmobiles. Not really similar. With a snowmobile you use a lot of body english to steer.
If you ride a two wheeler there's a slight learning curve with the Spyder.
[50/100 miles] No counter steering and no front brake lever. And you have to ride in the middle of your lane.

qstick: thanks for your post. Yes, I see the prices in US, yep. I got a quote the other day for a model here, RS I think, but not sure, it was about 20k. Canadian.

Happy to hear that you have 8k and no issues. Great!
Cheers.
PS I'm in Newfoundland.

The best motorcycle for winter and crappy road offroad use is the Ural Gear up or Patrol. Me thinks you will tear the Spyder up in a Newfy winter.

Hi Ral.

I suspect the salt on the roads will start eating away at it if I didn't wash it every couple days. But I would wash it every other day :).

During snow storms I think I'd stay home or take the bus. On clear days with clear roads it would be nice to own a Spyder so I could it.

I'd love to have Spyder for my own vehicle.
Cheers.

Get both, then the only thing that will keep you off the road is you!!!
