• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Mod Maniac
... Kewl Metal stuff just got in. Unfortunately, I can't install until Wednesday morning.

This is quality metal-working at its best:

... I am interested in how you like this setup. I am on the fence regarding how to get the bars at a decent riding angle.

No problem... I'll post it this weekend in my "Now mine..." mods thread. I knew when I bought the Spyder that I'd need bars and a seat... bad back...

ata dude,

Very Kewl! I like the fact that you used the gizmo mount holes in your own way. We make a few brackets specifically for this but the tapped holes were also intended for ram mounts, etc. exactly how you did it.

Yes, sir, I like RAM mounts. However, I didn't realize that they had a new line of metric-threaded-stuff until I had to order some replacements. I had already re-tapped <all four of the "side" holes> to 1/4" - 20 before I installed it so I'd be ready. As it turns out, RAM offers the ones that will fit your set-up with no tapping required.

I love this set-up! :clap::clap::clap::clap::clap:

I like the silver on black look.
How long did the install take?
Do you have any other pictures?
Big Joe.

Hey, Joe. The install took about 3 "ataDude hours"... that about 1.5-2.0 hours for anyone else. No big surprises although I wounded a Grip Puppy and had to put it down. :yikes:

See post 39 on this thread for the details and more pics: http://www.spyderlovers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5753

This is a great piece of work! Thanks.

BAHAWAAAAAAAA! How you doing, hotglue? Still Valking it? And what are you doing here? Thinking of buying? This thing is a real hoot to ride.

Folks, this is the guy who, in 1999, created my "handle" on the spot in the wide open space of North Texas when I turned my Valk over and broke my foot. In addition, the Valk wouldn't restart (Bank Angle Sensor thingy) and we had to wait (out in the open) for about four hours for Farmer John and his trailer to load the bike up. To top it off, I had to ride backseat all the way back to Dallas with a broken foot.

Other folks on the ride had to find a close town and collect water and tie-down straps while we waited.

The handle was originally "ataboy", as in "Ataboy, you dumba$$, for breaking your foot out in the middle of nowhere." It morphed over time as I, uh, matured. :D :D

And, that's the embarrassing history of "allergic to asphalt". :yikes:

p.s.... this is what the maroon and ivory Valk looks like now:

ata Dude,Yer Valk is looking good... We sold the Valk a couple years ago and got an 1800 wing. I liked it but Flamingobabe HATED it.... then with the overheating and frame breaking issues... we traded for an Electraglide. She likes it better than the wing, but she still looks a Craigs list every day for used Valks...
We were at Maggie Valley weekend before last and met up with Lamont on his Spyder! Cool Ride. I really like it, and now FB is looking for one. LOL. What ever we get next will HAVE to be good for 2 up. Your Corbins look nice and a wide pass back rest would give some support I would think. Hate to be going down the road and have to make a quick manuver and throw FB to the high side.
Hey ... ride that thing down to the BBQ April 4/5. this will be the 11th annual. Maybe we can get Lamont to come back on his. Last time he came on the 109.
Would be great to see Ya!!!!!!

Good to hear from you! I did a GW for a while, too... and an ST-1300... and a VTX-1800.

Where do you post the BBQ info? ... I just might come.

The info will be posted on Big Bike Riders Board....it is a way off.... but make plans for the 'Gatherin' of the Fools' BBQ. April 4th and 5th!

Atadude,

Your Valk looks really sweet. I just aquired this Valkyrie Interstate not even a year ago. It only had 12k miles and is showroom stock and clean as a whistle. I ride this while my wife rides the Spyder. It's a great bike.

Yepper, it's a good solid bike good for hundreds of thousands of miles with few, or no, repairs. There are plenty of folks who have 250-300,000 miles with an engine that has never been apart.

After having the VTX-1800C, ST-1300 and GW, however, the Valk (don't beat on me, Valk lovers!) handles like a tractor because of the large front tire and front geometry. But...it also has plenty of clearance and can easily carve the curves, in addition to a top end of about 145 mph <indicated>.

I do like it enough, however, to keep it! I don't have any real recent pics but it now has 1.5" drag bars on it instead of the stock.
