• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Welcome to the :ani29: community. I've been an owner (2012 RT Limited) since late May and joined Spyderlovers.com right away. You'll find the folks on this site very friendly and very helpful. I'm amazed at the knowledge some of the folks have and that they are willing to share to make all our :ani29: loving lives enjoyable.

Congratulations!

This is a decision you will not regret. I started with a 2008 Spyder on February 17, 2008 and now I am on my third Spyder, a 2011 RT. I am loving every minuet of it. Spyderlovers will help you to enjoy your new fun machine.

I strongly recommend you make sure all of the recall and service updates have been done on your new Spyder. Don't rely on the memory of the previous owner. Take your Spyder to a dealer so they can plug in the BUDS computer. Ask them to print-out the warranty history of your machine. Pay particular attention to the DPS unit (dynamic power steering) recall. There could be more an one DPS replacement. You want to make sure there is a replacement after a certain date (dealer will know), so that you have the final answer to what was a serious problem. BRP provides a newly engineered DPS that is safer and gives much improved performance. Make sure you have one of these. There should be no charge.

Also make sure you have the evaporative canister modification, another warranty replacement. There were some fires on the 2008 Spyders. It is widely believed these were related to the evaporative canister (I had one of these fires). The modification replaces the hose connected to the exhaust port with a much longer one that extends to the front of the radiator (maybe the back of the radiator). It also reprograms the purge valve for more frequent evacuation of the canister. If you don't have a long vent hose connected to the evaporative canister, you do not have the modification no matter what the service record says. This modification is free. If the dealer says it was already charged to warranty and you don't have it, pay for it yourself. This is important.

I don't mean to rain on your parade. No one loves their Spyder more than I do, although many would disagree. These modifications are very, very important for a long and successful experience with your new Spyder.

Good Luck!

Got my 08 Spyder GS (full moon silver) with only 100 miles on it 3 weeks ago & already have clocked up 1400 miles.

Hope you get lots of pleasure from it.
