I arrived home today from my trip to Cuba, MO for the Missouri Rendezvous. On Sunday, I got as far as Chattanooga, TN (550 miles). On Monday, I got to Gainesville, FL (475 miles). Two days to do 1,025 miles would not impress an iron butt rider, but for me it is above average. I can’t do iron butt riding. I would be falling asleep and end up riding off the road. This could ruin a perfectly good Spyder.
In Gainesville, I was less than 300 miles from home. I didn’t go home. Instead, I went to Malabar, FL to visit my brother who is hospitalized there. I saw my brother on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning, leaving the hospital at 1:30 pm, Wednesday. I arrived home at 6:30 pm, using the scenic route as much as possible. See my post regarding hitting an alligator.
My trip to Cuba was 1,300 miles. The total trip was 3,060 miles. Originally, I intended to go to Wisconsin on my way home (Naples, FL) to visit my brother who lives in Wisconsin. I changed my plans when I found out my brother had been hospitalized in Florida where I live.
I thoroughly enjoyed the Missouri Rendezvous. It was well worth the trip. I will definitely be there next year. I especially liked the Saturday afternoon ride through the hills. I would like to see this ride repeated next year. I also liked the midnight ride to see the murals. It was wonderful to meet the people behind the screen names. Cowtown deserves a lot of credit for the success of the event.
