• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I'll keep the "Old Lady"

After 15 months of ownership and 50,000 miles of happy rYdes, Silver Dream is a keeper. She NEVER let me down despite the long trips (coast to coast and extreme South to the extreme North), 1/8 and 1/4 mile, overheating, limp mode, home mode and so.

I'm with you Doc. Although I'm still 20,000 miles behind you. I'm going to try real hard to catch up beofre old Spydie is 2 years old....

You know Doc, I really like the new spyder and if we had the extra cash sitting around, would probably get one as well if I am honest with myself. But, I agree, I really love my current spyder. She is a lot of fun and dependable and very much "mine". I have traveled heavily with her and she hasn't let me down so far. A few minor aches and pains but very easy fixes and all under warranty. I have a little over 3 more years warranty on this model, so unless some great economic break through comes rolling in, I think I'll be riding my current spyder until the warranty is finished.

My SE5 is my first motorcycle, at age 67. I'll be paying on it for the next 58 months. But, that's not important...what IS important: I'm having the most fun of any vehicle I've ever owned.:2thumbs:

I also enjoy the camaraderie of onlookers, other 'cyclists...and especially seeing and giving the "how ya doing?" hand signal to the rest of our mostly-close fraternity/sorority. Dang! That's a great feeling!

Me too. I like ours just fine and look forward to putting on many more miles. Dependable and always ready to roll.

Should we assume that women call their bikes females? Interesting that men also consider their bikes/cars as females...I'd think that women would consider the bike to be male...then again, whatever...just an observation...

Of course men call their moto-toys 'She' or 'her' ,etc.....

You wouldn't want to be heard saying you took 'bill' out for a ride would you? :roflblack:

I'll be keeping my "sweet young thang" :roflblack: She only has a little over 6k on her right now. She's JUICED (JB) :roflblack: and ready to roll!

I'm glad that BRP has a full on touring machine as well as the sport model, but I would like to see them offer something to compare with the touring cruiser motorcycle type. It would be easy to do, many Ryders have already built them. Just a sports model with bags, shield, highway pegs, comfort seat and pull back bars available as a package deal. Many motorcycle companies do this.

:2thumbs: Love to get a new RT-S with trailer . For me in Canada with tax just shy of 40 grand:gaah::gaah::gaah:. Got about 30 grand in my :spyder2: now and would take a bath on a trade in. So the young girl 2009 SE Phantom will be my ride of choice for quite awhile.

I too love my "first" Spyder and although it has nowhere the miles of yours Doc, it has always brought a smile to my face when I ride it.

Even though I await my RT, my first Spyder will be going nowhere soon. I think Patti will take it over as it is still too cool and fun of a machine to ride to get rid of.

That and I have too much money in it. LOL

I ditto all the above sentiments. I love my :spyder2: too. As to naming or calling it a female - I call mine Fang - don't know any females called that - don't know that I would want too. :D

I love #610. My first bike at age 59, 33,000 miles and I still love the heck out of it. Somehow mine has avoided almost all of the problems that people complain about.

On the other hand those new ones certainly look cool. Brp may have got it just right again.

WOW!!!! 50,000 miles in just 15 months! Mine will be 1 yr. old on Sept. 27th. I should be over 19,000 miles by then. And, I echo your sentiments.
My 2008 Spyder has been nothing short of a pure joy. And, I tell people that ask that each day that I back it out of the garage it feels like Christmas morning to me. And, it really does.

And, for sure, one of the best things is that my Wife loves it about as much as I do. And, if you knew about my near fatal crash 31 years ago on a 2 wheeler, you too, would think that it's that much more of a miracle that she feels like she does. The Can-Am Spyder allowed me to enjoy once again, that wonderful open air motoring that only a bike/Spyder can offer.

In my other post, I mentioned my new 'stronger' love for my '08 since I have seen the online stuff for the 2010 RTs. They are cool! And, seeing the new RS is keeping it 'real' for us original owners. :)

Maybe down the road, I'll want something like the RT. 'Never know! My wife was blown away by the link I sent her on the RT, too. But, she says, she's quite happy right now with our GS. Of course, I imagine if she were to climb onto/into that back set of a new RT, she may think differently! Lol! :)

It just seemed natural to call it "she" and "her" maybe it has something to do with the female gender garnering close friendships with other female friends. My spyder treats me like a good friends, we always have fun together and she rarely lets me down. :2thumbs:

Fire,

I know we use female associations, but I just figured women would refer to their bikes as being male...DL gave a nice explanation...

As far as you and Bill, I won't go there! :D
