"IF" BRP comes out with a Touring Spyder...

.... will you trade yours in or buy another one?

We'll know for sure if the rumors are true on the 1st but I would like to know what you guys think. :doorag:

Seeing as how the wife wants one of her own - I would probably buy one that was already outfitted for touring at the factory. Aftermarket additions are more expensive; my only request would be for BRP to make sure the touring model has NMN risers and all the light kits that ESI has to offer. :2thumbs:

No. Pleading with my husband to get endorsed so he can drive is going nowhere. So we don't need two Spyders. And the one I have is just fine. I'll outfit it eventually with luggage. But honestly, I'm not a long distance ryder. The most I see myself doing are day trips, maybe an overnight. I'm enjoying what I've got for now.

I might consider it if delta between trade-in and new bike makes sense to me. I suspect money wise one would take a bath, just like trading in a one or two year old car for a new one.

I would also want to know the improvements made in this new model-doubtful they will be disclosed.

For example: relay seating, fuel lines near motor covered, gas fumes, brakes/rotors improved, suspension improved, oil in air filter, etc.

After having personalizing my Spyder it would be hard to give it up since mine has performed flawlessly. I am one of the lucky ones - zero issues of importance.:D

No I have not had the Recall Software loaded.

I think most straight up trade-ins will come from Spyder lovers who have unresolved issues hoping to get a good one.:dontknow:

It will be my first Spyder, if it is done up right.

I will be in DC to test drive next week. I am not a Spyder dealer but I sell Sea-Doo PWC's and Boats and we will all be at the same meeting...

Can't wait to see what they have come up with.

I'll be keeping mine for a while. Once this one is due for replacement, probably. But with all the money invested and modification it would be stupid since my spyder is now a touring bike.

But hey, that doesn't mean I'm not intreigued and interested to see what BRP has up it's sleeve.

?

Someone once told me there will always be something newer so buy now and enjoy besides i think it will be more fun to do the bike up my way. Still kind of interested to see what they come up with.

While I'm extremely happy with my existing :spyder2: it is what it was designed for which is a fairly sporty and fun to ride machine. As it sits with the mods I've made it is a great daily commuter and weekends in the Texas Hill Country, but I've not been tempted to go more than 4 or 5 hours at a whack as that is about the limit for me.

As I have drooled over Gold Wings and BMW dressers for a few years, a true touring :spyder2: would be an interesting departure. The features that would make me want to trade up would be:

- A really efficient cooling system. You see police Wings idle and putt slowly for long periods of time without overheating. Granted touring is not a lot of sitting, but I wouldn't want to worry about cooling on long trips.

- A really efficient charging system. I read somewhere that a Gold Wing makes a huge amount of power at low RPMs compared to the :spyder2: which only creates a few hundred watts at relatively high RPMs. You could have a lot of electronics with a decent charging system.

- More built in storage that looks like it was made for the :spyder2: like the Corbin bags. I was really disappointed when the existing trunk turned out to only hold one full face helmet, a jacket and some gloves. Two helmets and jackets would be the minimum. I'm tired of dragging our stuff into the restaurant because it won't fit in the trunk.

- A big improvement in highway stability. The :spyder2: feels relatively light and gets blown around a bit at highway speeds. I would imagine (since I don't own one) that Gold Wings and the like are a bit less apt to being bounced around hence the ease with which folks can do hours on end.

Until then, I'm good to go with what I have and absolutely love it for what it is.

I'll be keeping mine.

Like many others, it's now fully outfitted - but the Spyder is NOT a long distance rider for me. That role belongs to my LT - I don't hesitate to hop on the LT for a 3K trip, with all the creature features - coffee, GPS, tunes, heated grips/seat, cushy seat, electrically adjustable windshield, and on.....

The bags on the Spyder just facilitates errands and other trips around town, like commuting - and I really would swap roles... the Spyder isn't comfortable enough...

Nice to be able to be picky... :2thumbs:

Keeping mine. The fun part is adding your own mods...

"2010 Touring Model" Saddle bags and touring windshield, between 990 and 1100, cost between $20,000 and $23,000, that's my guess!

Nope--- too much $$$ and time into this one.

I don't think you're going to see any changes under the hood..... all of them will be 'external' for touring. Bags, Backrest, seat, trunk, windshield, handlebars, etc.

Maybe even a cruise-- but I'm doubting it......

No deal. Only bought my 08 this past April and only have 1900 miles onit so far... Not worth it for me to go that route, especially when a lot of trips are pretty much bombing around town.

I'm not sure I like the touring model based on the spy/leaked pics. Once I see it in person, I may have a different opinion.

So I guess I'll just wait to see the one they are going to trailer to your BBQ..... :roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack::roflblack:

That is the surprise right?

I hear that the chassis is different. Not so rider foward...Radio, Cruise all the bags and more.

White, Blue or Burgundy..

Shipping by the end of the month.

Did not hear anything about the engine.

Nope, plenty happy with what we did to ours to this point. $$ wouldn't allow it either. Curious though.
