• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I had a key made to get into the trunk and gas in an emergency. Like a idiot I turned the dup key without the chip to the on position. As soon as I turned the key I knew I should not have. Now the real key with the chip will not work! I get not display. nothing.

Does anyone know how to reset the key to start the bike?...

:mad::cus::cus::yikes:

Hmmm...haven't heard this one yet...perhaps disconnect the battery for 20 minutes and let things reset. I am not aware that a non-stock key will fry the electrical system, however, it may ice it for a while so that the vehicle cannot be stolen...the bike has a good theft deterrent system...

A non-BRP key should NEVER be used in the ignition!...I guess you know that now...

If resetting the battery doesn't work, then you'll need to get help from the dealership...argh...

Good luck...

Key issue resolved!

Thanks to Bone Crusher and Ken Zeller for input. I disconnected the battery and now all is well. I'm heading out for a ride to de-stress.

Just for future reference, the blank key should not have had any affect on your anti theft system, or "locked up" the bike:lecturef_smilie:. I have been using one in mine when in the garage for seat/trunk access for a year or more with no issues. It wont start obviously, and gives me the "bad key" across the message line, but works fine as soon as I insert my real key.:ohyea:

CONGRATULATIONS!!

TOO FUNNY...why u were wondering about HIS "mispel"...u misspelled misspell :yikes::D

Instead of driving school, we should have grammar school for a lot of people here...I can understand if you're from Mississippi, but besides that, come on...'there' vs. 'their' vs. 'they're', 'heel' vs. 'heal', 'to' vs. 'too' vs. 'two', etc...isn't school mandatory in this lovely country???...and if so, I think too many skipped class!

:shocked:

I heard the guy that runs this board never made it past 9th grade so I wouldn't be too judgmental about a few spelling errors.

I was jus kiddin..i just thought the irony was too good to pass up when someone pointed out someone else's spelling error, but then made a spelling mistake themself. :thumbup:

By looking at your spelling, I d say you paid attention in school, unlike this idoit from MI who squeaked thru all 13 grades.:D

Now, if I could just learn to use Firefoxs spellcheck..:dontknow:
