• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

ideas for "how to kill" an RT

I`m one of the lucky 10.000 mls - users without ever seen any "orange" display-messages - worked perfect no bigger problems .. till now - thats the story :
a good friend is in holiday with us (italian coast..) and after some miles together (I learned him everything how to ryde..)
I allowed him to make his first single trip ... saying be carefull....:lecturef_smilie:

got a phone-call 20 minutes later ..lot of orange warnings in the display - not possible to start - oil pressure aso .. on the end the display was black - DEAD !!
next morning we took some starter-cables and drove to my poor spy :( ..now it comes :
turned the key - everythings perfect - (needed no starter-cables) - made a test-round but couldn`t find out any problems:thumbup:

but BRP brought it to the next (100mls away) service-center - where they checked her front-2-rear (all free of charge !!) couldn`t also find no problems ..
First possibility : my friend (maybe) had his foot always on the brake-pedal - which overheated the brake-fluid
maybe someone can simulate this ( shure not with mine !!)

Another Idea could be .. maybe my RT "feels" who is ryding - is she jealous ?? couldn`t find anything about that in the manual ..:dontknow:

has someone other ideas ??

Chris, I have no other ideas but I do like your thought.

:agree: Your Spyder was pouting because the person who thought that they were in control... lacked the necessary experience! It was purely a self-preservation measure!:roflblack:

Lots of possibilities here, but riding the brake is certainly a possibility. The fault codes (and their sequence) recorded in BUDS will shed some clue. Other possibilities include a loose battery (or other) connection that was jarred even looser because of road conditions or heat, loose relay(s), or a sensor/switch issue aggravated by road conditions. I personally like your theory that the Spyder didn't like it when you "abandoned" her...sort of like when the dog piddles on the carpet because you left it with a dog sitter.

thanks scotty .. hope this never comes back in the future .. today we made a test in our district - she normally likes that ..( up where we belong..) but -
do you think its possible that she runs better now - after connected to an italian computer ??

Chris,

I had a similar issue, but not nearly as bad. I was riding home, luckily about 2 miles away, when the orange warning lights came on. My Spyder went into "Limp Home Mode" and I did just that. I called the local Can-Am dealer and he asked if the Spyder was still in limp home mode. When I started her, she was happy. I rode it to the dealer and kina wished I had not. They diagnosed her with a broken turn angle sensor bracket. Not sure the danger with that, but it does not sound good. Anyway, just wanted to let you know that the orange sensors do not always stay on once they do come on. Hard to miss a limp home occurrence, but if it were something else and I had missed it, sorry it did not tell me about it next time I started her.

Regards,
Larry
