• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

Idea for Spyderfest and or Maggie Valley Owners event

I'm just throwing this out there as a suggestion, I will be at Maggie Valley but not Spyderfest.

Event idea.

I have a very close friend who as ridden for over 35 years mostly in forward gears. His last two rides a Goldwing and Spyder now have reverse. I... Errr I mean, he would like to see some morning/afternoon training session on reversing with a trailer, because quite frankly he sucks at it.

I'm particular spectacular myself but don't have time to train him and I would just be showing off. I would of course attend the course myself in support of others and would be willing to dumb down my expertise as not to show off.

Just a thought for those that need this sort of training but too embarrassed to ask.

harry,

Cause I'm not lost, just taking the scenic route dear...

He may also want to look and see if there is a goldwing road riders association in the area. They do at times offer a course in towing a trailer with a bike or trike.

Harry, some have it and some don't. I've heard tell you're full of it. :roflblack:

Shouldn't be a whole lot different than backing with a cage.

Find a secluded parking lot and practice a bit. The Spyder-trailer combination is a little hard to maneuver due to the short trailer wheelbase and the large turning radius of the Spyder. Practice doesn't generally make perfect, but it sure as heck does help. If you feel you are doing well with the lines on the pavement as you practice, put up some cones and try some more. The secret is to go slow, and to pull forward and correct as soon as you notice the trailer is the least bit off line. You will not be able to save it if it goes very far at all. Don't worry about embarrassing yourself, we all have difficulty sometimes. Nice thing about full-face helmets...nobody can see who you are. Wear it right into the room at the motel, and it will save face in a way the helmet designers never imagined. ;)

A couple of Spyder-trailer tips...

Pull into a blind parking place...there is more room to back out into the lane of traffic than to back into the parking space.

Watch the trailer location carefully as you turn...it will cut in considerably. This ius especially important in crowded parking lots and gas stations. Easy to hit the island if you don't drive in deep and turn wide.

there is a rev limit in reverse on my 2011 rts, so I can not really get up a lot of speed in reverse, so I guess showing off will be limited.

Well..!!

If learning is hard and doesn't work..unhitch walk it over hook up and pull away...:roflblack:
