• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

to get rid of the beep-beep-beep noise that starts if you do not apply the parking brake on a 2014 RT. Anybody know how to do that??

Also, would like to bypass the headlight timer so that the headlights turn off when you turn off the ignition. Again, anybody know how
to do that??

Would appreciate any help on these 2 projects.

Can youu find thae module that is used to make that racket?
You could try disconnecting it; and see what happens with the errors that are bound to pop up! :yikes:

I personally like the beep when you forget to set the parking brake. That way I know the :spyder2: will be where I left it when I get back. :yikes:

Good time..!!

to get a hold of a wiring diagram. The only way would be if the beeper is seperate from the sensor. Same goes for the lights. Are they really that annoying..?? They seem to be good safety features. Might have to hunt down replacements otherwise...

not worth it

Met a guy in Sedalia in 2012 that had his brand new RS roll away from him at an ATM, and he'd been to 2 different dealers taking over a year and a half getting it back running again after all the damage! i still cringe at the thought of his ordeal and wonder what i'd do if mine got away from me before i was able to get to the right side to hit the brake! :yikes:

I have found a way to make it quieter but not get rid of it. The "beeper" is part of the dash cluster and it has a outlet for the sound, just place a couple layers of electrical tape over the hole. It still works but not as loud or annoying. I never set the brake in the garage so I can push it around without always having to turn it on to release the brake.

Have to agree it is annoying. I see it's value...but perhaps they could tone down the volume. Wakes the neighbors.

FBB & Chevron Pegs

Bluehole,
How do you like the FBBs? Ever accidentally push the right one and tip the floorboard down? I have big feet and long legs. Thanks.

The first one, just wait about 20 seconds. It quits when the lights go out.

The second, no can do. It's controlled by the ECM, which is what keeps them off until the engine is up to speed. I suppose you could get into the harness and cut and splice wires and insert another relay into the circuit to do that, but it wouldn't be easy. And Nanny might throw a fit also. The ground side of the headlight relays are controlled by the ECM.

The beeper is located on the back of the instrument cluster. You will see a little round canister with a hole in the center. I filled mine with silicon sealer and it quieted right down. Now you can only hear it if you are right next to the bike.

I don't know about the headlights.

Some pics of how I attached them---

I am 6'6" tall with long legs and wear size 13 shoes. As I think you can see---setting the pegs as I did gave me good length and my feet are still free of the fenders.

I am comfortable for long trips. No, I have never experienced any malfunction of the floorboards. They stay put.

A Question about the pegs on your FBBs: can they be adapted to fold up? If there's something to trip over; I know that I'll find it! :gaah:
I'm thinking about a set of those; but would need (want...) the pegs to be foldable...

Bob,

Kury makes different adapters that I am sure one would work for your purpose.

While I have your attention---what is the best way to use a battery tender junior? Leave it on all winter or just a day or two each month?? Also, when the spyder is parked for long stretches of time---do you over inflate the tires---jack up the spyder and let the tires hang off the ground or just let it set with normal tire pressure??

I anticipate my Spyder being garaged for stretches of up to 4 weeks at a time this winter. Trying to figure out the best approach to this winter thing.

Thanks,

If your tender is listed as a battery maintainer leave it on all the time. A good maintainer monitors the voltage constantly and sends a blip of charging current only when needed. I know the Battery Tender brand is popular and good, but I have a 2.5 amp charger/maintainer from NAPA. Works great. If yours is a trickle charger, throw it away!
