• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I think the party is over.

Hi All,

My bike still isn't running. It's been at the dealer ever sense I got back Biketoberfest in Daytona Beach. They can't seem to get it running without the warning lights coming on. BRP guys cleared all the codes while in Daytona, in less then 10 minutes. Broward MotorSports service dept. is just jerking my chain. I thought the Spyder was the best think to come along in the motorcycle world. Boy was I wrong. Service sucks at every dealership. The mechanic's aren't trained or qualified. Hell I'm a better mechanic on the spyder. I just don't have the computer program. At this time there isn't a chance in hell of me buying the RT or any other Can am product. I have to keep this bike because of all the money I have in it. The trailer I can paint to match my Harley. I'm going back to 2 wheels. I'll still post things that are going on with my Spyder. I wish and hope it will be on a better note.

Soorry to hear of your problems Steve. I had the pleasure of meeting you and checking out your ryde at the Spyders in the Smokies. Yours was one of the coolest there I saw.

I just got mine out of the shop today. I had 8 different codes hit the :spyder: when they ran diagnostics, and ended up putting in a new GPS, mainly because they couldn't figure out what to do otherwise since the codes would not reappear. So I get to be the test monkey to see if it happens again.

Hope to hear of you rydin the :spyder2: again tho!:doorag:

Sorry to hear about your Spyder woes - but it's not very fair to say that all dealer service techs are clueless. Mine are right ontop of things - as are many others.

I'd find a different dealer - and contact BRP directly.

Sorry you can't ride the Tomb Raider any more!

It's not just my dealer.

In the Smokies steering trouble. Went to dealer. They couldn't clear the system. Went to Lamont's BBQ and told the BRP tech about my problem. He cleared the system within 10 minutes.

Daytona Beach, same thing. Dealer had me sitting around for 3.5 hrs. Only to tell me they couldn't fix the problem. Went to the track where BRP was giving test rides. Told them my problem. They cleared the system in 10 min.

Now my dealer can't clear the system.

Most Dealers don't know crap. I have am test riding the RT on December 2 at another dealership. I'll take my spyder there and have them clear it. And tell me what it really wrong with my bike.

I remember in Daytona you had a lot of LED lights on and if I remember right your battery was dead when you went to leave. I know a weak battery can cause all sorts of codes. That would be where I looked first and leave any of those lights off until you find the problem.

I see your point for the most part but I think the guy at Lamonster's place was a bit more than just a tech. IMO, what you are saying would be akin to saying all doctors are quacks because the three GP's a person went to couldn't perform neurosurgery.

(I know it's probably not a good analogy as a lot of people think all doctors are quacks. :D )

Unless you have been to every dealers sevice dept and experienced unacceptable results at every one your statement is unfair.:lecturef_smilie:

:agree:with the above posts, but I can appreciate your frustration. All the dealers will have a learning curve, some quicker than others.

I hear the phrase "find another dealer" alot. Thats not alwasy an option as the dealer network is quite thin as we all know.

Have you tried to go this route yet?

Perhaps it is time to get Carlo involved so you have direct BRP support working with your dealer to get these issues resolved.

I totally understand your frustration as well, but there are some very good techs out there working on Spyders. It just appears you have not had the luck of the draw on your side with your particular problem.

I hope they get you back up and running very soon, especially before you repaint the trailer. :D

Steve,

Your Spyder inspired me. No... It wasn't the bewbs on the hood. It was all the thoughtful gadgets/mods that I didn't see on any other Spyder. I'll be incorporating many of those that I remember.

Please don't give up on Tomb Raider just yet.

Hope they fix your Spyder soon! Met you at the bbq and the tech looked at my Spyder for a steering issue. I didn't have any problem on the way home. Was a bit nervous though and my dealer replaced my dps when I took it there. I am very fortunate I have a great dealer. There's got to be someone by you? They're all bad?

I hear ya at wits end with warranty issues. No dealer problems though mine always gets it right but a lot of corrected problems seem to repeat themselves coolant bottles brake failures ......

I had no idea your coolant bottle broke again. HDX told me. Was it the bottle that cracked?

The LEDs weren't the problem that ran down my battery. It was the radiator fan over ride. When I park after being in traffic. I forget to turn it off.

Why couldn't the dealer check the battery first. Maybe the battery is bad. That's an easy fix. Shouldn't take a month to change it. The BRP tech. Told me if it happens again. Tell the dealer the DPS is bad. I told them. They didn't listing. They didn't even look.

Will see tomorrow what story they have to tell me.

Sorry, to hear about your frustrations. I don't know if it would help, but others have contacted Carlo at BRP and he recommended another dealer in their area and that dealer fixed Spyder.:dontknow:

I'd suggest running the fan override through a relay that is switch by the ignition, or a time-delay relay. That should cure the problem of forgetting the switch. I'd also suggest hooking the Spyder to a Battery Tender or its equivalent when not in use. You might also just have a weak battery. A load test would confirm that.

I would suggest eliminating the fan relay as well as any other electrical mod until the problem is sorted out. Put the bike back to stock, 100% and then if there's still a problem then, and only then do you have a legitimate beef.

Understand that you modify the electicals on a modern bike you have no basis to complain when things start going haywire.

I'm always amused when people modify their stuff then rant on about how piss poor the dealer/manufacturer is when problems crop up and they can't resolve it.

I know when I talk with Kurt and he has a problem child Spyder the first thing he does is put everything back to stock and start from there.

When we were trouble shooting a Spyder in Hollywood that wouldn't shift right we did the ground wire fix and changed some relays but it turned out to be a combination of a bad battery and some cheap HID lights that were the problem.
