• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I think my battery is dying.....

I have a RT 2011 with the original battery. Over the weekend, it barely started a couple times (seems hard to have enough juice to make it start) and started fine at other times. This morning, I almost got stock at the store. It would make a noise and stop. It's like there is not enough power to crank the starter. So I think it is time to change the battery. The question is, do I have to buy the battery at the dealer or I can buy anywhere? Anyone know what kind of battery it is so I can search for one? The manual doesn't say much.....
Thanks in advance.

Battery is a wear and tear item, so you can buy it almost anywhere. If you can remove the panels to access the battery, you can take the old one to a battery or motorcycle store and get a new one with the right dimensions and specs.

The OEM battery that came with your 2012 RT is a Yuasa absorbed glass mat (AGM) battery. You can replace it with whatever you want as long as it is the correct voltage but remember that the battery sits on it's side so it needs to be a battery that won't leak such as an AGM, Gel, LiOn, etc. I don't mean to downgrade Yuasa batteries at all, I have friends who have great luck with them, but I don't have any luck with them at all. So, I replaced the OEM Yuasa with an Odyssey PC680 when the dealer put my 2010 RT together. It is still doing fine. I'm including a link to one on-line site where you can get a PC680 for a decent price and no shipping. Note that I'm not recommending this site, it's just one that I found. There are many other on-line options available. I am recommending Odyssey batteries based on my own experience with them which has been very good.

Just wanted to add one more thought. If you decide to replace the battery yourself, and it's a very easy job to do, be sure to clean the cable terminals and tighten the connections very firmly. Spyders, with all their computerized functions are very sensitive to correct voltages and loose or dirty battery connections can cause all kinds of problems.
