• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I stink...

Well, my clothes do anyway. After a 30 minute run for breakfast, my clothes smell like exhaust, or hot engine, or something... is this normal for the spyder RTS?

Its been that way for me a lot lately. Today was windy and I was doing 55+ the whole way. Could just be my hands that smell that way.

Trying grip buddies as well for the first time... okay, dont like the seams..

I would also check the bottom of the air box [lower right side] to see if it's dripping oil from blow-by on hot parts..:dontknow:

Grip Puppys have no seam and fit exactly . Love 'em I quit wearing my gel gloves. I have used them on my other bikes in the past.

Did you put them
On right? The seam should be right past he tip of your finger when you fully grip then grip. Mine are this way and I never really notice the seam.

Seems to me, a seam is a seam. Regardles of where you put it, seemingly, the seam is still there lurking. Sorry, the devil made me say it. :roflblack::roflblack:

I know about the GB--have had them on both RT's.

You are the first person that has ever described or even mentioned what I have experienced ever since I bought my first spyder back in 2010. My wife, Cindy, and I often refer it to the smell of "road" or we will say we smell like road. It's not that the smell is so much like road as it is just a label.

All I can say is that I never experienced "that smell" when I rode two wheels years ago. Now admittedly I did take a hiatus from riding during the 1990's and most of the early 2000's. To me, it has a sweet smell. I have come to the conclusion that it is the smell of burnt ethanol that is emitted not only from the spyder, but every other motor vehicle that uses fuel containing ethanol. All of us get it when riding a conveyance that is exposed to the elements unlike when we ride inside a car.

I for one, hate the smell. In fact I'm embarrassed to get near people because of the smell that emanates from my clothing when I have been riding my spyder. I don't feel this way so much when I'm with a crowd of other riders, but I still have some reservations.

Thanks for posting this thread. Finally someone other than I has said something about this phenomena.

Might be time for a canisterectomy. My RT was awful and after doing all the changing of the can and the purge valves twice, they are gone, the hose is routed way back near the rear wheel, my garage no longer smells, the bike no longer drips fuel all over the place and those problems are history.
I check that hose after every leg of a ride or the final shutdown and maybe the foil insulation on the tank, wrapping of the exhaust pipes and luck have solved it. Still kind of a mystery. And no, I never filled it to the rim, or even close. It started at 8,000 and ended at 14,000 with the above operation!

I smell nothing in the garage, no smell of gas.

Only smell is on clothing. Dont remember it before about 2 weeks ago..

Just passed 444 miles, so i will ask techs about it. Its probably not covered under warranty :-)

I do believe alot of this must be coming from having all the tupperware. I also noticed tonight a really hot right foot, so i wonder if theres something going on on that side.
