My HMF exhaust came in today i also ordered the quite core so i took the back a part put in the core and bolted it backup i reached in and the core was moving around so i'am thinking i do need the spark arrestor to take up that slack does anybody know for sure? :dontknow:
What made you go with the quiet core with that sweet and mean looking spyder you have ??? Nice bike Roger. I like all your mods. Do you ever come up near Albany riding??? I want to hear you coming before I see you. LOL :2thumbs:
when i put my muffler on i had to use the gasket out of the stock muffler, that did the job good tight fit.
Thank you. Well i believe i will be close by 2x this year once for Americade (are you going} and i believe there might be a run being organized thru the dacks there are a few of us in the area maybe we can do a day trip or something? As for the noise level is the only reason for the quite core but it is very easy to take out if the darkside wants to play. Do you have more spyder riders by you?
Thank you napper i'am going to get the spark arrestor and try that to take up the slack if i still need gasket material i will put that in their also!
I was specifically told by HMF tech people NOT to use the quiet core with their street pipes -- it was designed for off-road use only.
Be careful with the mount-- especially if you have the BRP bags---- the rear brake actuator lever on the calipers will come down and hit the HMF pipe.
I'll be at both this year with my spyder !!! I'm a new spyder owner. I got mine (used 5100 miles) in Oct. 2010 and rode it for only 2 months and had to put her away for the winter. I graduated from a crotch rocket to the spyder. Way better ride and alot more fun. I'm having a issue with it already though as explained in another thread. I will have it fixed as soon as the dealers are done with snowmobiles :cus::cus:. Thank God I purchased the extended warranty especially seeing some of the issues that are on here. I know spyderlovers.com will be a invaluble tool. I just came across this site a few days ago. JACKPOT !!! There is another spyder owner near me but I have yet to meet him or her but I will as soon as the weather breaks. There is not to many of us around here and I kind of like it like that, but in away I want more of us so we can ride together. Catch 22. I hope to meet you and more of our kind this year. Question for ya, What did you do with the plate light wires when you removed the back fender ??? I'm so going to do that.

Hey Roger - how did you work out with the 'silencer'? I got my Spyder last year and soon put the HMF exhaust on it because I didn't like having a 990 V-twin that sounded like a scooter! I didn't want it to be too loud, I just wanted a gutsier sound. I'm happy with the tone of the sound, but I do find it too loud. It gives me a headache to drive for too long. It would be nice to take a few DB's off...
Also, do you plan to remap your Spyder? Mine definitely has more power overall, but there is a definite deadspot now in the powerband.
Anyone else have suggestions for a simplke slip-on exhaust that is gutsy without being deafening?
The Hindle is a lot like you are looking for (I think) and the Two Brothers Single can is probably perfect. Not to mention two different sound reduction tips to find your desired level...Hey Roger - how did you work out with the 'silencer'? It's the Performance Series, eliptical, slip-on. As far as I could tell, it's the only pipe HMF makes for the Spyder. It's black and silver... I'll try attaching a pic below.
I haven't worn ear protection before, but might have to try it. I wear a full face helmet, though, so that helps cut down on the noise.
Did you have any issues with backfire when you installed your pipe ?? It's nice to see that your from Brunswick and don't ride a Harley. lol. How's the dinosauar barbeque ??? I have the same color spyder as you and also run the HMF pipe, but I don't have the stripes on my hood. Looks sharp that way. What have you heard about Seymors service dept. Is that where you go for svc. ???
