I made it to Hollister (Corbin Factory)

Well, I made it to the Corbin Factory.:2thumbs: Actually a day early so Julio took me thru the production area to look at the model I had ordered and other designs. So far, so good.

Only problem I had is that the hand brake quit on me.:dontknow: I suspect it's a blown fuse, but why did it blow? Nearest dealer looks to be in Hayward, about 60mi away. I'll prolly go there on Saturday. Needs a 6000mi checkup and oil change, anyway.

Trip through the Sierras on CA-4 was one of the most beautiful roads i've ever been on.:2thumbs: I took lots of pics. I'll try to post some. Went up to 9000ft over Ebbetts (sp?) pass. Lots of snow, still on the ground.

Bootie, I recommend California Speed Sports in Livermore over the Hayward facility when it comes to service on your Spyder in this area. Or Marina Boat Sales in Lodi.

I tried Livermore but they don't do service on Saturday. Hayword was the only one that would do me on Saturday.:thumbup: I can't do a 6000mi checkup because they have to check valve clearance (8Hr job). I'll wait n'till I get back to Ohio. So far I'll just get my oil changed. They will also take a look at my PARKING brake ("handbrake" was left over from car lingo).

The list of dealers that Lamont posted was a big help. Thanks Lamont.:2thumbs:

Second of all you don't need to do a clearance check until 12K (they updated the service schedule in 2009 I believe). I think you will find that most will tell you not to worry about it that early on. I have 24.5K on mine and only got the check done once... and they were perfect.

Right you are. So... 6k, 18k, 30k, etc.... of course the new schedule says "adjust" at 12k. :dontknow:

But I think if you are having it done at 6k and they are okay, you're probably okay to wait until 18k... or in my case, probably 30k because I can't afford the $$ to just have them take it apart and tell me it's okay... I think it's like a 4 hour job. :dontknow:

At $110/hour for labor that's mighty expensive just to find out nothing had to be done or adjusted. :yikes:

38,000 miles on our 2008 SE5 and the valves have never been looked at. I plan on getting them checked at 50,000 (maybe). I have used Royal Purple 10W40 Synthetic oil since the 5,000 mile oil change (I change oil every 5K miles). We all have our own ideas on how to take care of our Spyders, so I can't tell anyone to do as I do. During our 13,624 mile trip last summer, I never changed the oil, just added when needed (Spyder took 2 quarts overall). Have a great time with your new Spyder and your new Corbin seat. We had our Corbin installed in Hollister right after we bought our SE5.

Dudley, thanks for posting that information. I have pushed oil changes before, never near that long though, and was wondering just how far you might be able to go.

I just pushed it because I didn't want any dealer doing it. Otherwise, I change oil every 5K miles, like I have been doing on every motorcycle I have ever owned since 1966.
