• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. I know this is a common topic but "HEAT"

I recently installed a cat bypass and installed heat wrap on the exhaust. I don't see any change on how hot it gets. I guess it is what it is and it'll always run hot.

Nevada..!!

could that be the problem...:roflblack: have you done anything else..?? The "Y" gaskets, the block off plate the heat recall vents off the 13's these all have helped the heat issues. And then there is always a certain degree of heat on motorcycles. Where the heat concentration you are talking about can help with what you can do....

Up to You

I read about all kind of block off plates and holes drilled into different panels and reverse fans, but heat, at least for me, is not a problem. I have had the 2013 recall done and that made things even better. Now if you are concerned about "right foot " heat, I have some of that. If I jump on the bike, like I did Sunday, for a Ryde around the neighborhood, with flip flops on, my foot gets warm. When I wear my Ryding boots, I feel ZERO heat!:yes:

Installed the cover on the lower right vent and made a hole in the bottom to expel the heat. That didn't work. I removed the plate to vent out at my right foot. No change. The RT's temp gauge reads 3/4 all the time and starts creeping upwards at stop lights. No summer riding for me on the Spyder in fear of over heating. Only ride the Harley. I can only take the Spyder out in the fall, winter, spring. "There's no snow out here in the winter" :)

Scoop kit

Talk to your dealer about adding the scoop kit to your bike. My 2011 RT ran hot but after adding the scoops there is almost no heat. Even in the Florida heat my bike is comfortable to ride.

temp gauge - something else going on

I don't have an RT (had RS, now ST, husband F3) but I do not like the sound of temp gauge at 3/4 and creeping upwards at all - suspect something other than airflow is going on here.

Even when I had burnt thighs and boiling gas in my ST, the temp gauge sat on half or just above ... now sits well below half and when it creeps up to half (in traffic etc) then the fan kicks in.

Please chime in people - coolant ? coolant tank ? Exhaust gasket ? IS THE FAN working - supposed to 'cut in' at about half on the temp gauge, to cool it all down ?? (sometimes get clogged up...) [FAN or fan sensor is my guess]

If it was my ST I'd take off as many panels as possible and go for a ride on a hot day - and see if the temp gauge stays at 3/4, and listen for the fan (easily heard after a ride, for example) ... if it stays at 3/4 or more, it's likely not an airflow issue. Don't know whether this is feasible for the RT though.
