I installed the riser all by myself!!!

While I've been reading many posts, up to now I've not joined in on the conversations. I have a question about the risers. Because of my short stature the steering bar & hand grips ergomonically don't fit me. My hands & wrists are in a slight bent position while holding onto the handgrips. Is it possible to put a small radius (bend) in the new bars that fit into the risers, thus bringing the handgrips inward slightly allowing me to ride with my arms, wrists, and hands all in alignment? If putting a bent in the new bar is not possible, then can the riser hole be machined at an angle to accomplish the same thing as a bend? Up to this point I've been dealing with very tired limbs.

I do not know the answer to your question but I am sure someone will pop in with an adequate solution for you. There are so many innovative minds on this site.

On a different note, Brighton is not that far from me in Grand Blanc. If you need to try to get together to get a feel for the riser's I've installed, let me know. I am sure we can work something out. I know a couple in Brighton that have a Spyder as well and they are very nice folks. Of course, this could be you now, isn't it Joan? LOL I know we are going to try to get some more rides going before the year is up.

Bear in mind that I have neither the risers or a Spyder when you read this...

I would think that if you need the bars end to be closer to you or farther away from you you should be able to bend the stock bars a bit to get the angle you want/need before you cut them off.

The stock bars shouldn't be that hard to bend. And even if you mess it up they aren't that expensive to replace.

Then again, maybe the pending super secret Heli Bars will do what you need if you can hold off for awhile to see what they look like.

Good luck in your quest. Handle bar fit is closely related to shoe fit- if it works you don't even notice them, if they don't fit you're miserable all the time.

I don't see you bending the stock bars and still keeping it under the cover plate.

You could get the risers and then buy some 7/8" bar stock and bend it and bolt it to the risers like what comes with it.

You may find you don't need to bend anything after you get the risers.

Did someone post something about the torque values being incorrect on the installation directions that were provided with the risers? Comments?

Once the shoulders of the allen are no longer rubbing on the lower caps the torque for these bolts should be correct.

However if the allen head bolt's shoulder is rubbing in the lower half moon then the added friction will make the values seem wrong.

First make sure the allen head bolt does not have it's shoulder rubbing in the half moon cup if it is then remove the ridges as per the how to post on this.
