• There were many reasons for the change of the site software, the biggest was security. The age of the old software also meant no server updates for certain programs. There are many benefits to the new software, one of the biggest is the mobile functionality. Ill fix up some stuff in the coming days, we'll also try to get some of the old addons back or the data imported back into the site like the garage. To create a thread or to reply with a post is basically the same as it was in the prior software. The default style of the site is light colored, but i temporarily added a darker colored style, to change you can find a link at the bottom of the site.

I installed the riser all by myself!!!

I just couldn't stand it. I couldn't wait. I went out to the garage to start prepping my spyder for Brian so he could do the install of my NoMagicNeon 3" risers and I just never stopped. I followed all the directions step by step, they were very clear, concise and easy. All my cables were long enough so that was not a problem. Once I got going, I just kept going. At first I set everything up loosely and didn't cut my old bars. That was my biggest fear I think. Once I realized how easy everything was going, I scored the bars and cut them down. I tightened everything up enough that I could put pressure on the bars and turn them all the way in both directions with no problem and checked the position of all my parts for comfort. Then I put the spyder back together again. Now it was time for a little test ride. I just went down the road and back right now because I will have Brian sand the allen bolts and tighten them up better for me tomorrow with the lock tight stuff. You know, I was right, these risers are just what I needed to make my cruising position perfect along with my highway boards. Another thing that is just amazing; I think it is actually easier to turn the spyder with these risers on the corners and the curves. Others that have installed them, what do you think? Is it my imagination? Tomorrow, I'll take her out for a real good test run and see how it goes. Sorry I didn't get pictures, once I got on a roll, I really only stopped twice, once to talk to my mother when she came over and once to talk to Brian on the phone and tell him how it was going. All in all, it took me about two hours to complete this. If I had to do it again, I think I would be much quicker though. For those that are more mechanically experienced, I think your install will go more quickly than mine. I'll keep you all updated and I'll get some photos in the daylight of my risers and myself in my new seating positions.

You crack me up:clap:

I knew you couldn't just "get it ready":2thumbs:

I'm glad it went good for you and you're right, it does turn easier with the risers. Let us know what you think after a good long ride.:doorag:

I almost forgot to mention, while I had everything apart, I replace the stock grips with some gels grips I picked up at the local motorcycle shop on my way home. I don't like the feeling of the ribbed stock grips. I took my big cushy grip coves off as I was getting a pain in my thumb joint. It is hard to explain. I think some of it had to do with riding position too as I was putting a lot of weight on my hands with the stock bars. I do believe these risers will alleviate a lot of this.

Gee Deb, have any sisters. Loking for a partner who can turn a wrench!

Sorry, one sister and she is very married and she doesn't really like to do hands on type work anyway. Keep an eye out and hang with the spyder crowd and you'll find the one you need.

Way to go Deb!!! :2thumbs:

As far as I know you are the first woman to do this mod 100% by herself!

If you read my fist post on this again you'll see you are right about the steering.

I too noticed the bike handled better right away. Without so much weight on your hands and arms you are able to turn the bars without first having to hold your weight off of them with your back and stomach muscles.

What this means is that is it not only easier to move the bars, but you can also respond faster making the bike seem more responsive.

I can't wait to see your photos, and again way to go!

:congrats::yes::yes::yes: Way to go Deb!! You are one awesome chick!! I also think it handles better with the new riding position. Lets get together sometime. I love turning wrenches!

Thanks for all the compliments everyone. I admit though that Brian did tighten my bolts and sanded the allen heads for me. He is the one that keeps me in line with all these things. Okay, so here are some photos of the finished product and my seating positions.

Well, Yesterday I spent a couple of hours riding my Spyder with my new risers installed. I was able to get both highway and back road riding in. Boy oh boy, what a difference. The steering and handling is easier and more reactive than before. The seating position is so much more comfortable for me. I no longer am holding my weight up in my arms and shoulders. My hands also did not get as sore near my thumb joints. I can lean back on my bikersfriend bag backrest and stretch my legs out on my highway boards and still reach my handlebars. This mod is so worth the time and money, I can't even begin to tell you. Evan, you've hit another home run. Keep em coming.

WOW!! I installed them last nite and did about 130 miles on them today, What a F___ing difference.!!!!!OMG!!! Comfort, Easy steering, Its a different bike,AAAAAAAAAAA++++++++++++

Let me be the first to ask: did you like it?:cheers:

Thanks Deb!

I am so glad you like it. I know it made my Spyder so much more comfortable for me too. It really is hard to tell people the change it makes until they ride it.

Riser Question

While I've been reading many posts, up to now I've not joined in on the conversations. I have a question about the risers. Because of my short stature the steering bar & hand grips ergomonically don't fit me. My hands & wrists are in a slight bent position while holding onto the handgrips. Is it possible to put a small radius (bend) in the new bars that fit into the risers, thus bringing the handgrips inward slightly allowing me to ride with my arms, wrists, and hands all in alignment? If putting a bent in the new bar is not possible, then can the riser hole be machined at an angle to accomplish the same thing as a bend? Up to this point I've been dealing with very tired limbs.
